This past weekend i traveled to Baltimore to see the Tigers play the Orioles for 2 games (saturday and sunday). The Tigers are playing some great baseball right now! Miguel Cabrea is finnaly settling in nicely. Look for the Tigers to snatch the AL Central from the White Sox, if not the wild card.

For how many years did Ichiro sign his extension? I'm glad the Dodgers lost the bidding war against the Mariners to sign Adrian Beltre.

Yeah, I kinda would have liked to see Beltre back in a Dodgers uniform, but I guess he had them on his no trade list. Looks like he dosent want to come back.

Okay everyone make your predictions now:

AL East: Boston
AL Central: Detroit
AL West: Seattle :1orglaugh (Angels)
WC: Rays

NL East: Mets
NL Central: Cubs
NL West: Dodgers
WC: Brewers

WS: Angels vs Dodgers!

Plus the Dodgers don't have a great history with clients of Scott Boras

How right you are, shayd. And that goes waaaaaaay back before the Jones fiasco. Through three different owners over the last decade Boras has picked that organization clean. Shit he was practically the de facto general manager at one point. Every time I hear that mercenary prick talk I cringe

Okay everyone make your predictions now:

I hear that! Now is about as good a time as any:

NL East: Mets
NL Central: Brewers (1/2 game out!)
NL West: D'Backs (Dodgers surely have a big chance though)
Wild Card: Cubs

AL East: Red Sox (Ortiz coming back today)
AL Central: Twins
AL West: Angels
Wild Card: Yankees

World Series: Mets vs. Red Sox

The first two picks were more with my heart than anything else, though both teams sure do have a great chance. I hated making that pick for the AL Wild Card, since I want them to crash and burn, but I figured I had already made enough "personal preference" picks.

He's great with the glove, but he's too damn inconsistent with the bat. He had his best year with the Dodgers on his contract year and with the Mariners he has only had like one good year. On the other hand, the Dodgers haven't been able to replace him since he left. :(

5 years, $100 million.

Wow, 20 mil a year. Losing won't hurt him as much then. :D

Beltre is one of those players that never lived up to his promise. For a long time it seemed like he needed only a few more years to develop, then a few more, and finally it just came to a point where you know he was never going to make it. His one great year screams fluke. I'm not sure, but I think a lot of the promise scouts and other people saw in him in the beginning might be due to the fact he lied about age. If they would have known that then he wouldn't have been as good a prospect.

I'm praying for a Mets/Brewers playoff series....

Oh how the fur will fly :D

I'll take a Mets-Brewers NLCS. I'm hoping the Mets play the D'Backs or Dodgers in the first round as they have played well against those teams.

I'll be happy with my Brewers playing good ball.

Of course, I am obligated to pee my pants if they make the playoffs, but that's another story.

What about this jimmy rollins crap? the guy drives his personal car to shea. i have no problom with that but he also gous to the game in his car and left 2 minutes after the team bus yet arrives 45 minutes later. hugh? gets benched and after the game says he disagrees with the managers decision. Way to go j roll you broke both rules your layed back players manager uncle charlie. hustle and be on time. way to go MVP!

Becks brought to my attention a brawl that happened last night in a Class A game. Thought you guys might like a look at the article and pics:

DAYTON, Ohio (July 25) - Fifteen players and both managers were ejected - and a fan was sent to the hospital - following a 10-minute, benches-clearing brawl in a Class-A minor league game between affiliates of the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs on Thursday night.

I've never before heard of a game where they reversed the ejections just so pitchers wouldn't have to play in the field!

Whoa, maybe somebody should have told them that they were supposed to act more like they were in a baseball game and not a family reunion. :D

well the pirates just got fleeced again 4 so called prospects of which one jose tabta might eventually help while the yankees get Xavier Nady and Damoso (sp?) Marte. way to Pirates oweners. MLB needs to eject them and find somebody who actually wants to field a team

While Xavier Nady is a bad loss don't be too upset over Damaso Marte. I have watched him over the years and unless he's learned to pitch it is no great loss.

Marte has a career 3.21 ERA with 484 Ks in 454.1 innings. And he hasn't had an ERA over 3.77 in a season since 2001. You couldn't have been watching him too carefully if you think he doesn't know how to pitch.

The Pirates are only around to send all their good players to the Yanks for their players from the scrap heap. And about the Minor League brawl, the dude who tried to throw a baseball into the opposing teams dugout and hit a fan instead should be banned from baseball. I mean how much do you suck if you cant hit a friggin dugout???? Those things are pretty big, how do you miss that and hit some lady in the stands? Id rather watch WNBA fights at least they hit the people they're trying to whack.

well the trade was reworked and the pirates acquried jeff karstens and dan mccuthen plus ohlendorf and tabata a much better deal for them
