2007 MLB Thread

hmmm, i think you should know that i despise everything about the minnesota twins. from their uniforms, to the stadium to their players. i even hate kirby puckett. kent hrbek is a punchline i use while insulting someone. just fyi. :D

Yeah, but we took the AL Wild Card, so I was a little not sure. We took 4 AL Central's since 2002.

And just so you know, I used to hate your 'Injuns' quite a bit too, but it was always kind of hard for me to hate a team with such a....hhhuhhumm, mediocre post season record...lol :1orglaugh

Guess who took the most World Series' out of the central? Ok 1, but still the most! :D

If you're referring to my beloved Twinks, we won TWO, (87' and 91')for the record. (Only damn team in MN to ever win a world champ...lord knows the Queens can never win)

I wonder who the Yankees are going to replace Torre with, and if they expect him to do a better job.

I don't know, but they kept saying that A LOT of players are leaving if he leaves because he is like a father to them.

Somebody on Mike and Mike this morning (I think Dicky V) was saying NO WAY, that Steinbrenner was bluffing because JT is so loved by the Yankees. :dunno:

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS

I'm not aware of him doing play by play (or color commentary, if you will) for any team other than the Brewers--during the regular season.

Post season is another story altogether.

Hey, did you know he has a stalker? (And no, it's not me--I'm busy stalking CCT.)

So, what you're saying is...Senob is up to bat, but...I'm on deck? :D (Sorry, baseball pun...I won't bother making an "in the hole" joke, although it would be nice)

You could also use some other baseball metaphors like getting to first base, going all the way, and getting a grand slam. Of course whiffing and striking out are also a couple of those to. :1orglaugh

I hear Buck Showalter is available. George has done it before.

Don't worry, Chef. I strike out alot, (in baseball and otherwise) keep your big stick at the ready!

he was referring to the central. the twins have not taken any since the move.

and..... the twinks! :rofl::rofl::rofl:

um, no. i said no to im not stalking him. not since he went to boston. im never going to that shit stain of a city.

Works for me.

I don't think I could stand to go to Boston. I'd have to kick people in the naughty bits because of their accent.

But then, I'd miss out on some Irish pubs.

Joke away. I'm unwell today and need a diversion.

Belated Congrats to IAF and the Cleveland Indians on the well-received victory over the Yankees! Tell mrs. forever I'm sorry her Yanks lost but it had to either be one way or the other. :dunno:

Yankeefan, As a fellow BRONX buddy, I would like to see Torre go out winning another title. Thing is I do believe Torre may be the person that tells Steinbrenner he doesn't want to get a new contract. This past season had to be a bitch on Torre, and I really do not believe Steinbrenner put out a "win the Indians series or your gone" ultimatum. Those two will sit down and figure things out. The "media" just needs to stop making stories out of a few words.

I say let Torre go where he wishes. You can't fire him, because his contract is up.

He's done if they drop him. Would you want to go anywhere else after leading NYY for 13 years? I think they said on ESPN the other day he led the only dynasty in MLB since free agency began in 70'. He's a lock for the Hall too.

they also said the veteran's comittee will drop the five year waiting period for torre.

I don't mind if somebody goes into the hall early if it's almost guaranteed that they will never play or work at the job their going in for again. (Unless it's in media broadcasting or something similar where they don't work on the field of play) I thought most halls of fames put a time limit to be inducted to make sure the person didn't come out of retirement and screw everything up with all the info they have with them in it. :dunno:

IMO, Tony Gwynn is doing an outstanding job a broadcaster on TBS for the division and NLCS. He was a bit slow coming out of the gate, but lately has been doing an exceptional job.

Too bad TBS does not have the world series - I can't stand Joe Buck and Co.(unless FOX went to Thom Brennaman).
