the yankees have no trade worth. who can they give?
Yeah, I was thinking that when I made the post. You wouldn't get shit from them, but you know they'd love to have him.

georgy would probably sell his first born for hafner.![]()
That fucker robbed Milt Pappas of a perfect game. A perfect game! That fucker.
I'd be hesitant to give a long term contract to flame thrower too. But a fundamentally solid pitcher, who just eats up innings, and is a lefty, like Buehrle, who gave a 50 million dollar home town discount, is a no brainer. And no, he's not a strikeout machine. He's a gound-ball pitcher, and a good one at that.
Oh, I was so hoping that the Sox management would goof the signing so I could raze my White Sox fans for letting him go.
Pitchers with a higher strikeout ratio tend to hold up better, tend to be better overall, and are A LOT less reliant on the defense behind them. His strikeout ratio isn't that bad. I think it's around 5.5 per 9 innings. There are a lot worse people. It's the fact he keeps walks to a minimum that makes it work though. It's just that great pitchers like that are anomalies. The only one I can think of that did it in my lifetime, and that held up and were great for most of his career off the top of my head is Maddux,...and maybe Glavine. But a lot of it with Glavine was that it seemed he had the supernatural ability to somehow make the umpires call a strike zone that was 5 inches wider than for any other pitcher, then him really being as good as his numbers suggest. The risk with low strikeout pitchers like that is if they ever get unlucky with an abnormal amount of balls in play that go for hits or a situation comes up where they have a crappy defense behind them then they can play just as well as before but people will wonder what the hell happen when their ERA goes up a run or two. If he did give them that big of a discount it would be a good idea to pick him up, especially considering the ridiculous salaries even mediocre inning munchers get now.
This is too funny! Cleveland is close at the All Star break and the bandwagon is growing larger. Detroit fans have one good season and they are the kings now. Boston is 11 games up on Toronto @ the break ane they think they have won something. Bottom line !!! THEY call it a SEASON for a REASON. sorry to be ugly...I have just seen too many things happen. BTW!!! this crap about "BIG PAPI's" meniscus............ just anexcuse if the BoSox falter.if they don't ......... after the meniscus is replaced the HALL of FAME will place it next to the bloody sock along with Becketts band-aids.
I'm more than a little sad to see Jason Kendell traded.

Yeah I'm going to miss his experience behind the plate. That and the fact that he is traditionally a second half hitter. Thankfully I really like Kurt Suzuki and where he is going both offensively and defensively.
I thought it was kinda funny reading what some A's pitchers were saying about how much he is going to be missed and whatnot. Compared to when the Cubs let Barrett go, nobody said shit. LOL I used to like Barrett, but that's cause I used to always get him in fantasy baseball. He truly was a shitty catcher though. I'm so glad we got Kendall.
jason kendall and his .220 average?
being a catcher, i can understand the need for a leader and a defensive presence behind the plate, but .220?
