2007 MLB Thread

Jeter is totally washed up. I remember when he used to ALWAYS get a hit. I mean always. Now he could'nt hit a freakin balloon. :dunno: In addition, the Yankees appear to prove AGAIN that you can't buy a title. I sort of love this about baseball. Org's like Cleveland with a bunch of no-namers beating the pulp out of Yanks...gotta love it. ;) That's the way it should be. You should'nt be able to BUY a title. A fucking joke.

thats what you get :)

^ ok i see, you just don't learn from mistakes..
keep em coming

while your making this run, why don't you come over to my NFL thread and talk some shit about the raiders and the ravens,

Ummmm, 2 for 4. :D Come'on....the guy sucks the big fat one, and a couple hits you think he's out of it. Nope. You don't get that kind of salary and play like a freakin a 3rd grader in the playoffs. I think he really sucks.

Oh, and Jeter??????? Wow he is finished.

A-Rod admits to "pressing to hard". He is MVP material and only wants to have that carry over to the playoffs - he seems to be settling down though.

Also, give credit to the Indians pitching, shutting down almost all the Yankees in the first two games.

If Jeter is washed up then my team can get him for a bargain price - I'll take a washed up .322 hitter with 73 RBI's and 102 R's for his '07 season effort - especially at a bargain price. :D

nope. I'm not saying that. I'm saying everytime you start talking shit, something good happens. I realize he's been a ofer all fuckin playoffs.

But Jeter is more than just a hitter, he's the captain of the team. He's led by example enough over his career to get a pass. It's only been 2 fucking games. They play 162 games in the regular season; where was this "Jeter is washed up, he can't hit anymore" talk then

by the way, the Yankees win. After 3 games a series can be no closer than 2-1 so we've got a series now... :)

Come on guys....the PLAYOFFS are what matters, not the regular season and all that bullshit. I'll admit, Rodriguez had one of the greatest seasons ever, but if you start 'wiffing' in the playoffs, you amount to dog shit. Jeter used to be automatic and I think he has ONE HIT this whole series, abysmal...that's what that is. What about Doug Mientkiewicz? My man can't hit shit at the moment. He used to be fucking sick with the lumber. :dunno:

Mientkiewicz got ran over by a cameraman in Cleveland and he laid down a crucial sac bunt that ended up scoring 3 runs tonight plus he did it as a PH. And I will repeat one more time, it's been 2 games *now 3*. The series isn't over.

just keep talking... :)

So...you're a Yankees fan? I think you'll be the one eating your words after this is over. Their bats are just too cold. ;)

Before last year if you compared Jeter’s and A-rod’s playoff statistics A-rod was only a little below Jeter although Jeter had a larger sample size because he has played on better teams throughout his career.

Putting too much emphasis on playoff performance has the same flaw as people believing in "clutch hitting". It's just an illusion created by luck and small sample size. Nobody has an ability to just get better in the playoffs or in clutch situations. Clubhouse leadership and presence is also overrated, especially in baseball.

Ultimately its the Yankee pitching staff or lack thereof that beats them in the playoffs every year. I'm a Yankee fan, but I'm sick and tired of Steinbrenner buying all of the has been offense in the world and then bitching because he cannot win the WS. When they won their 4 WS titles they had a pitching staff and that's how they won games. John Wetland, Andy Petite, David Cone, David Wells, Mariano Rivera. They had three or four good pitchers they could rely on and the people to back them up in the bullpin.

Then Steinbrenner has the nerve to release a press statement saying if they don't win this series, Joe doesn't have a job. Joe Torre should tell him to get bent even if he does have a job next year. How about getting some reliable pitchers to back up the offense! That is exactly the reason they are down 2-1 in this series. Pitching could not hold off the tribes bats. Even if the Yanks win, unless by a miracle they will not be able to hold off the BoSox either. It sucks, because they have an awesome offense, but no pitching to back it up.

^ that is what i've been saying,

I see a few members counting the Yankees out and making excuses :nono: ... the problem with the Yankees is that they are always expected to kick that ass. Their second problem is their pitching staff. In the past, they had the most lethal rotations especially for the postseason. This year they are average, at best.

But they can still pull this series out. :yesyes:

I was at a steakhouse when the Cubs lost on Saturday. The whole place went "AWWWWWW". Not as bad as the 2003 mood though. Everybody just went back to their dinner, and lifted a glass to the poor Cubbies. Gotta love this town!

Yeah, that attitude wasn't nearly as bad as 2003, or even that collapse in 2004. Stupid Cubs though.....god is sucks being a Cubs fan!

Hey, you know there is plenty of room on the Sox bandwagon ..now that all of the converted jumped back on the Cubs bandwagon this year. Come on over. We lost crazy Carl, but we still got crazy Ozzie!
