Hey IAF - Congratulations on the Indians
Going into the season I thought the wild card was their best hope, but they've had a heck of a year. Best of luck to them in the playoffs.

it isnt over yet. still got some games to go. ;)

but, i just looked at my tickets and it seems i bet them to win the alcs and not the division. :(

You might want to wait. You don't want to jinx them. :D

LOL - I actually thought about that before I posted, but figured since they aren't my team it was pretty safe to fire away :D

So who are they playing - or do we know for sure yet? Last I looked the Sox and Angels were about even. Too bad it's not the Yankees - that'd be quite a series in the IAF household ;)

if the season were to end right now, i have no idea who would play who as the indians and angels are tied for second best record.

yankees are the one team i dont want to see in the playoffs. one because i dont want to hurt my wife, and two the indians are 0-6 against the yankees. :(

So if they end up tied for the second best record that means they'd play each other, right? And the team with the best record would play the wild card. I'm pretty sure that's right but I'm so tired my usual IQ has dropped about 20 points....from 30 down to 10 :1orglaugh

Well then let's hope that doesn't happen.
Losing to the (what do you call them....the Gayngels, right? lol) wouldn't be a whole lot of fun either lol

[/QUOTE]that wont happen ever. the division winner can never play the wildcard if the card comes from the same division. if the angels and indians finish tied, i have no idea what will happen. it better not be a coin flip. id prefer a one game playoff for home field.

since the gayngels always beat the yankees, no that wouldnt be good if the tribe lost to them. that means the yankees would have to go through them. if only we could combine forces. :D

What did you just call my team?!!!?

LOL
That isn't my name for them, Ms Vette
I actually like the Angels
Somebody else on this thread coined that name for them, though I'm not really sure who.... *coughiamforevercough*

;)

Changing speeds, my Mets seem ready to give the division away. Lost to the Nats last night, and before that having the Phillies as just an Achilles Heel. Funny how some teams match up weird. Like IAF said, the Indians don't match up well with the Yankees this year. I remember in the mid 90s those two used to play some epic high-scoring affairs.
Meanwhile, since my fiancee is on vacation (in Milwaukee) I'll mention that her Brewers are in a dead heat right now, pretty much holding their ground.
What about this last question, With the races on in the NL East and West, which division is likely to spawn the wild card? You've basically got ARZ, SD, NYM, and PHI. Three will make it in. I sure hope the Mets aren't the odd team out!

in a way, i blame my wife. before i met her, the indians didnt have a serious problem with the yankees. but, since i met her, other than a 22-0 nothing win in new york and another blowout on stienbrenner's birthday in cleveland, the tribe just cant beat the yankees. :(

I think the Indians are a little better this year than they have been in the past while the Yankees have been good but stagnate. Plus in a short series anything can happen.

With the Yankees charging up on the Red Sox and in good position to make the playoffs now I remember where people where panicking about them months ago even when I thought they were better than they showed and where going to probably be ok.

carmona is the key. if he goes, the team will win. especially with westbrook struggling again.

i never panicked...

Yankees v Indians in the ALCS would be best thing that could happen in the postseason. And I can already see the BoSox inventing a new "curse" theory to blame for their pathetic, sad team if they lose the division and get bounced out the ALDS. omg
