2007 MLB Thread

I'm really starting to doubt this Dice-K experiment. So far he's been less than a mind blowing pitcher. In 5 innings he gave up 5 hits - 7 runs - had 5 walks and only 1 strikeout. I hope to god he doesn't turn out to be another Hideo Nomo or even worse Hideki Irabu. Without Manny's 2 homers and the bullpen cleaning up the mess it's a no doubt win for Seattle.

It could be worse. He could turn into Chan Ho Park, where he ends up not that good over the course of his career but somehow gets people to pay him huge sums of money a year.

Isn't it amazing how so many mediocre players can somehow get mega money contracts? The owners have the balls to cry about high salaries, yet they are the ones dumb enough to pay these players ridiculous amounts of money.

Here's a recap of how my Cardinals are doing (through saturday):

1) obviously-the tragic death of Josh Hancock
2) 11-17 ; last place-8 games behind the Brewers; 1-7 in their last 8 (outscored 51-10 in the process); lost 13-0 Sat. :o
3) only 2 starters hitting over .274 ; every other starter hitting under .260
4) starting pitchers: Looper (2.84 ERA), Anthony Reyes (5.46), Adam Wainwright (5.60), Kip Wells (6.59), Randy Keisler (5.65) (You know your team's in trouble when Braden Looper is your ace  )
5) Chris Carpenter to have arthroscopic surgery on his elbow--out at least 3 months :(

This is going to be a loooooooooong season.

Maybe it's karma coming back from that World Series win last year.

can you explain your theory since there is no recent examples to go on?

He is getting up there in age, but Clemens has been remarkable resistant to fatigue and injury in his career. I wouldn't be surprised to see age finally catch up to him. On the other hand I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled out a sub 2.00 ERA the rest of the season either.

Thank god Rocket is back in NY, he is the plug in the sinking ship of the Yankees that we desperately need right now.

I wouldn't be surprised either way myself. Though, he has been pitching in the inferior hitting league the past couple years . Chances are at his age, they are gonna light him up like a Christmas tree in the real league. :2 cents:

I'm excited to see Roger back, but honestly his age scares the hell out of me. The skill is still there, but the body may not be. Any 45 year old is high risk for injury.
