Who the fuck knows how much we are screwing up our country or how good this is for us. Everyone seems to have a close mind about this. Change is ok to try even if you are democratic or republican. If we do fail then we will be back to the days of anarchy which everything will drastically change back to the way it was from our founding fathers way of time. Hopefully I can grow my hemp like good old George Washington did and smoke my bud in peace.

:weeping: My gawd, my gawd however will I live....:crying: My American dream is over...:crying: Nothin' to do now but remember the good ol' days under Dubya of meaningless wars, financial ruination and the times when we all had the freedom to buy houses we couldn't afford...I miss those days

good one  the same bitches that couldnt afford their houses or felt the necessity to buy flat screens instead o' paying the rent or this months health insurance are the same ones cryin' My gf and I are pretty much well off, I mean we have great jobs, but if WE fuckup, its a struggle. i dont care if my money pays for a fat fuck eating chicken or pays for some teenage abortion who were irresponsible about sex. i dont care, why? cause i dont mind. i feel pretty good that im, I"M, ME is paying for your lazy ass to get better. you people make no sense. for years the government has been bilking us, from 2,000 dollar toliet bowls in the pentagon to gold cups on air force one. and nobody sent death threats about those... come on man. either americans are stupid or they are really fucking stupid. just pay the fucking taxes or shut the fuck up. you do know the united states is not the only country in the world, right? move. obama is just tryin to get your lazy asses to be more responsible and you hate him for it. i dont blame you cause now you see something your parents neeeeever taught you. responsiblity. you same folks typing on forums and yak, yak, yak are the same folks scared to protest or just dont know how. fuck your job, or family, wife, kids. if it bothers you, fucking protest. leave and march with your pick-axe and forks and demand what you want. but you wont, hiding behind the desk is much easier, yet it gets you nowhere. im all for this healthcare, cause I DONT MIND paying for you to be well enough to go to school, or work, or even to see your family a little more if you had some terminal illness. as an american that i am, i just dont mind it. :hatsoff:

Young and healthy is no reason to have no insurance as you can get sick in weeks/months or have an accident tomorrow. With obesity being a problem in the US many people will get (or already have) diabetes, heart problems or high blood pressure/cholestral yet the symtons won't show yet. You probably spend more on guns/cigarettes/alcohol or super king sized burgers every year. At least you won't be the laughing stock of the world as the most medically advanced country on the planet where poor people die of simple diseases in totally avoidable circumstances. In any case, the trillions of $ spent on war and weapons (and still being spent) is paid for by your taxes, many times more than what healthcare would cost you. The average guy won't reap any benefits from the wars, only the already rich elite of bankers, arms sellers, oil barons, construction firm owners and payrolled senators (pain by corporations to push a cause) will.

Perhaps making this mandatory isn't the right thing to do. Here's an idea: allow two opportunities to sign up for "reform coverage". Say, at 26 (when a person would be off their parents' coverage and maybe again around 40. The next time they'd be eligible for any sort of open coverage would be when they hit Medicare age (65, for most people). Anyone who declines to be included in "reform coverage" would be ineligible to reap any of the benefits of having such coverage, but they also wouldn't have to share the costs. But here's the kicker that I would include. One of the major problems in my area is the costs borne by ER's, because of uninsured people using the facilities as doctors' offices and not being able to pay. My local hospital is in serious (very serious) financial trouble right now. Well, once an opportunity is there for people to have insurance (or not have insurance), we change the law that requires ER's to treat people no matter what.

Here's how I see this working. A 28 year old declines to be covered under the reforms. He loses his job. If he'd signed up to be covered under the reforms, he'd be able to get coverage that wouldn't be based around pre-existing conditions, etc. But since he declined, he can get COBRA (if he can afford it) or he rolls the dice and goes without insurance until he finds another job. He has a car accident. He is taken to the ER. Before he can be admitted, he (or his family) have to show proof of insurance or the financial means to pay the bill. If they can't show either of those, they roll him back into the lobby and his family has an hour or two to remove him from the premises (you can't hang around a restaurant if you can't afford to eat there, can you?!). He either gets better on his own (at home)... or he dies. If he can limp along until he's 40, or find a company that'll hire a crushed up 28 year old and give him insurance, he'll probably be OK.
Otherwise... :dunno:

An opportunity to sign up at 26 and/or 40 seems fair enough to me. But I'm open to other suggestions. But my plan saves ER's from going under because of uncollectable debts and it doesn't force "socialism" on anyone. People who make wise decisions get care and live. People who don't make wise decisions (or can't see past their nose) don't get care and they die. Yeah? Likey? Darwin wouldn't want it any other way

I've also got some ideas to end the (creeping) socialism known as public education, the VA, NASA and social security (none of those things are mentioned in the Constitution - Will E Worm can confirm that for you!!!). I'll post that manifesto later. :)
