This is why every other country should take Norway as an example

More people, more social problems. Call me when Norway has a significant population.

That excuse is lame and old. And you have that giant economy. Every other developed nation can provide decent healthcare and education, among other social programs. Why can't the USA figure it out?

If the people of the world had the chance to move to the happiest place on earth, what would be their choice? Well, overwhelmingly it's USA. Year after year, decade after decade, generations after generations, immigrants made that choice.

Norway has 47/1000 moving out ranked 10th worldwide. Australia 45/1000 ranked 12. USA is 16/1000 at 31. So who is happier where they live and stay?

Probably because, when they think about USA, people think about California, New York, dollars, etc. And when they think about Norway, they think about cold and snow

Now, you might agree that if people were better informed about both America and Norway, they might think twice before choosing the US over Norway, don't you think ?

So by this you are saying that millions of people, from around the world, with the painstaking task of picking up their lives to create a new existence, have been making the same stupid decisions for generations? That's not being very considerate of people's intelligence. As said before, Norway is ranked 10th in people moving out. If those people were so happy they wouldn't be moving out.

Maybe Norwegian have so high happiness ratings because all their unhappy people move to America to lower their ratings or rest of the people in Norwegian become happier when those crybabies finally move away and they can sit home and play video games all day quietly, without their noisy neighbors trying to knock at their doors and asking them to cafe...

According to the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Economic Analysis The Gentleman from North Carolina resides in a state with a GDP of $495 billion compared to IMF GDP projections of $392 billion for the Norwegian economy, and NC is only the 10th largest state economy in the United States. Pardon me if I'm underwhelmed by the strength of the Viking economic machine.
How much money you have says absolutely nothing about how happy you are. Not all countries are like the US in that they focus so much on capitalism.

Absolutely nothing? If you are in excruciating poverty can you still be happy and live a life worth living?

Ever notice these Euro types can express their national pride but if Americans do it, it is arrogance?

Couldn't have put it any better than Edgy just did. Money can buy happiness for most people, and lack of money will make you one miserable motherfucker.

Euro pride for the most part isn't always followed by the claim we're the best in the world. Another major difference is that a lot of Americans can't take any critique of the US and a lot of the times they attack the person who dares to criticise it. It's almost like Americans can't comprehend that other countries might be just as nice to live.

Thanks x, but my question was a bit of a setup as my intention was just the opposite.

I was going to bring up my relatives in the Philippines who were raised or still are in extreme poverty. I haven't seen them since I was a teenager. Poverty sure does make life harder and none of them had any problem keeping slim, but yeah, they were still happy. They shared what little they did have with each other including me, the "I'm an American, this place sucks" attitude I had when I was with them. They had the love of their families and in some cases their faith.

I remember visiting them one time in October and they already had a little Christmas tree set up while their refrigerator was nearly bare. They were looking forward to Christmas even though there'd be no exchange of expensive gifts or likely any gifts at all, but they had each other.

Not to sound corny, but yeah, love, faith, family and a life worth living.

see above.
