LAS VEGAS -- Junior middleweight titlist Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, Mexico's most popular fighter, got a nice 21st birthday present this week: The confirmation that he will make his second defense against former "Contender" star Alfonso Gomez at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sept. 17 -- the weekend of Mexican Independence Day.

While Alvarez-Gomez will headline a card at the Staples Center, the fight will be televised as part of a split-site pay-per-view show on which Floyd Mayweather's return from a 16-month layoff to challenge welterweight titlist Victor Ortiz will headline a card -- and the HBO PPV telecast -- at the MGM Grand.

Bump

I haven't been able to maintain the thread, and the fight is a few weeks away

Floyd wins easily. BTW, here's the vid of Floyd almost going at it with his retarded ******/almost coming to blows and calling him a ****** (HBO keeps yanking the vid so probably won't be up long):

I didn't see a Floyd KO, especially not that early

Merchant: I wish I was fifty years younger

I told you in the Boxing thread, there was no way VO with his semi-weak chin would defeat Mayweather. :2 cents:

Berto will now want revenge against VO.

Money did choose the easier of the potential opponents left and this **** was a bit suspect, but i won't take this away from Floyd. The question now is: who the hell is next for Floyd?

*that he is actually willing to fight.
