Forgetting that it was the Tories who rescued the UK economy in 1979 (overseas observers believed that Britain was irrevocably sliding towards being a banana republic) converting it from the weakest to about the strongest in Europe.Now somebody is going to have to do it again and it won't make them many friends as people only remember the pain rather than the cure.
I can accept a different political outlook , that has to be respected.What I can't forgive Labour for is its ineptness , corruption and incompetence.They didn't remain true to their beliefs (largely because it wouldn't work) but put on many Tory clothes (which is one reason why the economy did well early on)..........and then all the CCTV stuff, talk about ID cards, and all those things they've nibbled from our civil liberties.

Yes Labour rebranded themselves as New Labour moved too far to the middle ground, rejecting their core values. CCTV, ID cards etc all things the Tories luv, with their outdated ****** values nonsense. They too have done a New Labour rebrand but I will never trust or vote for them ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever
 
Why is it that all the scottisher type people that I meet here down south say how great it is up in their bonnie homeland, and yet insist on living in England? :dunno:

Do I detect a spot of prejudice? Labour had to shift because old thinking just didn't deliver the goods in a modern world.Their core values were at best wishful thinking.
The Tories do not like the idea of ID cards, they are very keen on civil liberties.As for "outdated" ****** values, just look around you at the number of people living in a social vacuum. **** growing up in particular without fathers so they have no idea how men are supposed to behave , those whose parents change partners regularly and then we ask ourselves why there are so many fucked up ****.Teachers will tell you that many don't know how to sit at a table, use a ***** and fork to eat with and share things with each other.Why is giving them the security of a stable ****** life so outdated?
Every night our **** plus my wife and myself sat down together for our meal, we talked things through and were able as we went along to give support and advice. Now how many **** just eat on their own in front of a screen? Families are ****** important for a stable society.

Seriously though, can we avoid the generalization that all **** from broken homes are nothing but Neanderthals?

Of course they are not, and some **** from stable homes turn out badly.But politics must address the general and face that there is a very much greater risk to ******** in broken homes than in traditional ones.They are more likely to do badly at school and to get into trouble with the law.But you can't extrapolate from the general to the specific as each one is an individual.

Not really prejudice, just opinion based on experience. Yes Labour had to change but they moved to far to the centre. They are good at winning elections but failed to offer real change, especially when for years they had no real opposition. They could have been quite radical but offered right wing policies like student tuition fees, ID cards & detention without charge.

In terms of the ****** I think its more a case of a lack of male role models for a generation of **** but the ****** values issue is not the answer, particularly when the tory view of the ****** is a narrow ****** & ****** model. Also how on earth can they legislate to promote the ****** unit? Offering married couples £3 a week?!? They have to face up to the fact that the ****** has changed. One solution is to encourage men into the teaching profession, particularly at a primary level. This would offer **** a much needed strong male role model. But all the scaremongering over paedophiles has led to an untrusting attitude towards men working in any capacity with young ********.

What also needs to be addressed is the fact that the government has colluded with the media in presenting a view that teenagers are all ***** wielding thugs. A whole generation has been demonised. I would **** to be a youngster in this day & age facing that attitude wherever I go.

But the bottom line is, I do not trust the Conservative party. & never will.

Where I come from it's the ****** and ****** who make the ***** so its logical that those with the biggest stake and involvement should be the ones doing the upbringing.I do like to see grandparents involved too-I'm one myself and find it a wonderful experience. I can also complement and extend the work of the parents.

As for Labour espousing right wing policies , change is easier to talk about that bring about. It's got to be paid for to begin with.Without a strong economy little change is possible , Labour was extremely fortunate to ride the global boom which gave them extra resources to throw at the NHS and education. But it was more of the same.They threw money at the NHS regardless of where it landed.More could have been done with less but those politicians had hardly done a day's real work between them and didn't know how things worked.Radical? A generation of young people starting off life with debts from useless degree courses and house prices out of reach.Yes, it's a different world in Brown's Britain.
