Well he was right and the war against Saddams army was over quickly. However there was no plan to deal with the militant Shia and Sunni militias. Now the coalition just let them wipe each other out whilst their troops hide in the safe Green Zone. Robin Cook must've felt undermined being Foreign Secretary yet having pressure to push the case for this war, probably led to his ill health and death. The only guy I ever see smiling all the time is Tony Blair.

Well, for one thing... the European Union and the Euro as currency did Germany for one very well, for a long time. We were exporting like hell and making a big profit - at least the companies did. The workers went downhill, financially, and lost a lot of their rights, too.
Now that the 'PIIGS' states are finally coming out of the closet about their fucked up national budgets, things are crumbling fast.
This weekend, the Free Democratic Party (The Liberals) had their party congress, and at least the are thinking about maybe Germany moving out of the European Union, now **** hits the fan and we have to push some 8.400.000.000 Euros to save them, it seems.
Not paying is not really an option - because the recently nationalized Hypo Real Estate and other german banks have some 45.000.000.000 Euros invested in Greece.
So it's throwing away the 8.4 or playing raising the stakes and hope for the best.
I think that not being in the EU might actually be the better way, after all...
To my surprise I walked ****** someone handing out leaflets for the National Front today:1orglaugh. You had to laugh - especially as the guy looked like someone who wasn't even qualified to be a competent football hooligan. let alone to engage in any form of political discourse. I had actually all but assumed they had died out when the BNP rose to prominence. I guess some people just can't give up the old rhetoric. Or at least they can't hide it as well as the BNP do.

Can I ask what the "right move" would be in that situation? I'm guessing it's the one who hides behind the other two, right?
Or is this one of those "the only good politician is a dead politician" kind of things?
I'm guessing the latter.
