Grindhouse

Jesus, is that total bullshit.

Tarantino and Rodriguez are the farthest thing from innovative, unless you want to count Tarantino's moronic habit of taking washed-up has-been actors like Travolta and that loser from Jackie Brown and bleating how "this is their comeback performance of their lifetime."

Neither of those two has an innovative atom in their body. All Tarantino has done is to take hackneyed worn out film cliches and put a bunch of bright shiny noises in front of them in a futile attempt to distract true cinematics such as myself from the bullshit he's throwing up on the screen.

And the only thing Rodrguez is known for is making some bullshit foreign language picture for like $1,000.

Big fucking deal. Seeing as he filmed the damn thing in Mexico, I'm surprised it even cost that much. And the film sucked flaccid uncut cock.

Got Damn!! This fool got hella **** in his *****! Tarantinos movies have some of the best dialogue ever. 2 hitmen talkin about whether massagin a chicks feet is like eatin pussy b4 they make a hit. Have u even seen Reservoir Dogs!? Smh.

ok... the city is Karachi... the country is Pakistan....
"Pakistan" cannot be used as a last name.... so thats not true...
and of course the reason for not writing your countries name on the ground is purely out of respect... as ppl would tend to walk over it and thats not what anybody would want of their respective country..... and no, it doesn't mean "God"... :-)
now since I have been nice enough to divulge all this info - can we please get back to porn and sex.... lol

no dude. i mean the last name karashi. not pakistan.

Well, I think Tarantino's overrated but I wouldn't say that...

Sounds like you don't know much about cinema.

Which is odd seeing as you're a true cinematic.

no dude. i mean the last name karashi. not pakistan.

no bud.. never heard of anybody with the name karachi - or karashi... your freind might have a similar name... but not the same...
the name "Karachi" was derived from the name "Kolachi".. a famous old woman who lived in a fishermens village long long ago.... it was said that all the fishernmen went to her get blessings before they sailed out to sea so that they could get a good catch.... her name was Mai Kolachi... Mai meaning old lady...
Over the years - the name evolved to be Karachi.... and that, is never used as a name for individuals here....
I believe the concept is pretty simple... names, first, last or otherwise shouldn't be written on the ground as they are your identity and your ******'s identity... and should be honoured...
I hope I am making sense here....

thinking about it i think it started with a q but sounded like karashi. quashi or something like that.

Definately 1 of the most entertaining movies I've ever seen in my life. RR & Tarantino are 2 of the dopest directors in Hollywood. LMao@ the trailers before and during the movie. This shits a classic.

Glad to hear it didn't disapoint, how long was it?

3 hours. But it was ill!!! Everybody was amped. You should go just to see the trailers b4 and during the movie. @ Machete.

It was terrible. In Tarantino's half, the dialogue was just a rehashing of characters from his previous films...complete with black person that says "motherfucker" way too much a la Samuel L. Jackson.

Rodriguez's half was executed really poorly, considering the budget they had to work with. I guess now everyone knows Rose McGowan can't even act well enough to be a B movie actress. His half was more true to a grindhouse film stylistically, but he relied too much on the showy effects.

The blending of recent and old technology didn't work well. They had fake previews before and between the films, and they were better than the actual movies themselves. They also had fake missing reels, and messed with the picture quality, but it just didn't work amidst the high-tech produced goriness of it all.

I'm a fan of Tarantino, and I like the old grindhouse pictures, but this was just an awful mess. Very over-hyped, and I think the critics aren't going to say it sucks because it's Tarantino. If this had been an effort by someone besides him, it would've been ripped up one side, and down the other.

So, I'd say this is a "wait for it on video" release. Don't waste the money. I ended up being really disappointed, and almost walked out halfway through "Death Proof" (Tarantino's half).

No offense, but dont pay any attention to ^^^^this post!!!!!!! Planet ****** is 1 of the best movies I've probably seen in my life. DP was aight, it wasnt as good as PT. I loved how the screen had the effect like u were wacthin an old ass vhs. You have to go see this. Everybody in the theater was callin this amazing. It musta been too gory for Sputty.

 @ the babysitter twins.
 @ "Don't".
 @ "Thanksgiving".

Planet ****** is a fuckin classic. Yea I said it. I'm bout to see if they have a soundtrack to this. The music they played was so fuckin dope.

I wasn't offended by the gore. All I could think during Planet ****** was "hmm...I'd much rather be watching Evil Dead right now...or any Troma film". At least Bruce Campbell knows how to carry a cheesy, gory skin flick, and breathe some life into it. McGowan just wasn't good enough to carry it off.

It also lagged terribly in parts, especially in "Death Proof". I was looking around the theater out of sheer boredom. Now it seems Tarantino has resorted to cheaply imitating himself, rather than his usual plundering of David Lynch. Don't get me wrong...I like Tarantino, but he does commercialize what other directors have done in the past without shame.

What Rodriguez and Tarantino were trying to accomplish was to kick the old grindhouse style up a notch, by integrating old and new film-making techniques. It was largely experimental, and I'm of the opinion that the experiment failed.

Its goin down bitches!!!!

Rodriguez to film Machete Movie during Sin City 2

At SXSW, Robert Rodriguez announced a feature length Machete movie, based on the popular fake Grindhouse trailer. At this weekend’s Grindhouse junket we were able to grill Robert for more details on this new project.

“When I started doing the trailer and as soon as we started showing it to people they said we want to see this movie. Bob Weinstein even said that ‘I want to see that movie.’ So I thought we would probably make it then. If audiences respond to it the way I think they might then I think we’ll make it.”

Quentin Tarantino jumped in:

“Robert pretty much has about 40 minutes of it anyway just from the trailers. True grind house I’ll give him 6 more days to finish it out.”One of the things I love about it is well there is blacksploitation but in America there wasn’t a mexsploitation. ‘Machete’ is definitely a mexsploitation film.

Robert explained, “When I wrote him [Danny Trejo] in 94 I thought he should be like Charles Bronson or Jean-Claude Van Damme and make a movie every year. He should be making his own mexslpoitation movies so I came up with this character ‘Machete’ for him.”

When asked if the film would be released theatrically, Robert replied: “Yeah, I mean I am just going to go shoot it and then I will see what we do with it. “The Sin City director previously revealed that a Machete screenplay is completely finished, and Danny Trejo is very excited to start filming.

And when can we expect MACHETE? The movie would be filmed at the same time as Sin City 2 (tentatively set for early Summer 2007):

“It would be done at the same time. It would have to come out when ‘Grindhouse’ comes out on DVD.”

I will go see this **** opening muthafucking night!!!

yeah, I don't agree with you SG. How can someone cheaply imitate themselves? doesn't everyone do that? it's called formula. that's like saying that Clerks 2 was a rip off of jay and silent bob because it used all the same characters and styles and dialogue. what? that doesn't make any sense because the movies are all loosely sequels to each other. same thing with QT's movies. Don't you know that they are all supposed to be part of the same universe? It's just like frank millers sin city. The characters from pulp fiction and resevoir dogs could be walking in and out of each other's storylines and so on. that's the point.

your comments seem to suggest that you didn't think very highly of these directors from the begining, and that's fine if that's how you feel. you're certainly entitled to not like whatever you want for whatever reason.. but I think that you just basiclly said the same thing as Mr. Cinematic douchebag, just in a less blunt and insulting way. It's not supposed to be Gone with the Wind or Apacalpyse Now, or some big revolutionary film experiment, it's just supposed to be cheesy and entertaining.

and how the fuck does he "commercialize" what other people have done? by making movies? isn't that exactly what they did? doesn't that make everything from the 70's a rip off of films from the fifties and sixties, and so on? I mean every gangster movie was just a "rip off" of a western, which was a rip off of theater...

I mean that "Death Proof" seemed like a first-year film student version of something Tarantino would do, not something he would actually do. I didn't think it was that hard to understand. How can you say it wasn't experimental? The over-arching stylistic premise that drove the entire movie was a mix of old and new film-making techniques. That's a pretty damn big experiment, considering the budget and the wide release it got.

I know it was supposed to be cheesy and entertaining...I clearly stated in my post that the films were in grindhouse style, which is supposed to be cheesy and entertaining. I'm saying, on the level of cheesy and entertaining it failed miserably. I wasn't entertained at all, which I also stated in my post, by saying I was bored.

"Commercialize" means to take something relatively ignored or unknown and deliver it to a wide audience, which is what Tarantino does all the time. **** Bill borrowed heavily from Eastern cinematic tradition, and made it "cool" in the US. Pulp Fiction borrowed from a long tradition of exploitation films that not many people know about and made that "cool" too. "Death Proof" also borrows from exploitation films, as well as the old grindhouse flicks, and is trying to make what's old seem "cool" again. That's commercializing, and I stand by my statement that Tarantino does it shamelessly.

You have to be a film nut to even know what films he's ripping off...that's how he gets away with it. Watch "The Bride Wore Black" or "Master of the Flying Guillotine" or "The *******" or "Lawrence of Arabia"...and don't forget the original infamous exploitation film-maker John Waters, anything by him. Tarantino's solution to everything is "let's add some snappy dialogue" and pass it off as his own artistic statement when it's really not. It was ok for a while, but now it's just getting old.

And by the way, I like Kevin Smith...Frank Miller not so much.

ok, from now on I'll only watch movies that no one else has ever heard about except for two or three people that get together and talk about how everyone is so lame for not having heard of them, while at the same time critisizing everything else for being successful and popular.

I never said anyone was lame. I also never said I didn't like Grindhouse or any other Tarantino work because it was successful and popular. I even said I LIKE Tarantino's work, but whatever...:dunno:

Saw it last night, loved it, took it for what it was, and it was extremely entertaining. The only problem i had with it was that DEATH PROOF had a bit too much talking, it could have cut out about 10 mins of talking and added 10 more mins of action, because the action sequences were superb. PLANET ****** was awesome, and the fake trailers were an absolute riot.
