Xbox addict 'dies from blood clot'

It is through no fault but his own that's for sure. No one made him do it. Some people just don't have anything better to do. I would sit all the time and play games but I get bored after a few hours and have to watch movies or get up and do something. I can't just sit for like 12 hours like he did and play a game FFS that's just fucking stupid bullshit crazy so it is. The thing is the guy was supposed to be at Uni studying for a job and yet he spent 12 hours playing a game. Hmmm me thinks his mind wasn't on what it was supposed to have been on.

Try playing Left 4 Dead or Left 4 Dead 2 on Advanced mode in single player. You will get exercise playing then so you will, after the rage kicks in through the incompetence of the AI characters causing needless deaths etc. You will get the exercise of jumping up from the seat and smashing the Xbox through the HDTV that it's sits under or next to!. While screaming "BASTARD!!!" at the top of your lungs.

Some people are drug junkies, others porn junkies, now we have game junkies. The only good one out of the three is the porn junkie as I've never heard of anyone dying through wanking or watching porn.

There is no way he died from just several hours. He was either really sad and was playing it for like 10-20 hours, or this was something he did a lot.

I feel sorry for his family but you don't have to raise awareness, just do something else every so often, don't play your xbox every hour of every day.

This is probably sick because he is dead and i am sorry for saying it but he probably needed to get a life.

Sad but true. Darwinism in effect.

By actually getting outside and living rather than playing an xbox literally all day.

Even just to get out and get drunk or go out with friends from time to time.

Maybe even get a girlfriend.

You don't know he didn't do those things though. If you saw the total time played on my games you'd think I was some lowlife loser and that's all I do. I may be a lowlife loser, but it is possible to be a gamer and have a life outside of gaming.

Yeah but you are not dead and you also didn't know him

I play games a lot too but i'm not dead either. He could have played his xbox non stop for all we know.

He was supposed to be studying for something yet he let a game control his life and through this he paid the ultimate price.

Rather than just playing xbox it may have been the online part that made it so addictive for him, you can imagine spending hours on an online gaming community rather than just playing alone. I don't have LIVE and rarely play past 2 hours a sessions and then only 2-3 times a week although I've got a lot of other things on at the moment. In this case there may also have been many other underlying factors that led to his tragic death, maybe poor diet or lack of exercise or an undiagnosed medical condition but it would be very unfortunate if spending too long on the xbox was the sole cause.

RIP Chris Staniforth

Chris Staniforth died from a blood clot after sitting still for 12-hour sessions on his Xbox. He was passionate about computers posting this picture on his Myspace account three years ago

He looks quite chubby, no suprise there then, i'm probably very sick.

Even with xbox live i dont know how he could play for over 12 hours. I have a playstation and i get bored by about 2 hours. Games often get repetitive, maybe i feel like that because i only ever play FIFA. I don't imagine he saw sunlight very often, given his chubby appearence. I still cannot see how people can play games consoles for so long.

I'm going to hell for sure with what i'm saying about him. Sorry for being so sick.

Getting drunk is not living.

Females can complicate and mess things up. Unless you can find a good one.
Good luck. ;)

What i said does not mean living life but they sure are a hell of a lot better that playing an xbox all day. Sure what i said isn't really living life to it's maximum but both of the things i said involved company. Yes on xbox live you can talk to people, but i bet he rarely comunicated with someone other than his family or work school mates etc in the same room

Jerking off to porn at least keeps embolisms from happening in a couple of places-and if you stand up while you're doing it, it's positively healthy.

Reading stories like this make me glad that I am not a part of gaming culture anymore.

And by reading through this thread, I think you guys are being way too nice to this kid. People can blame the gaming industry, but at the end of the day, HE did this to himself. We're all porn fans here, but we don't let it control our lives. This kid should have gotten help if he thought he was seriously addicted to videogames (although I question if that is even possible).
