The only match I saw before falling asleep was the divas match. Was a very good match and I am looking forward to seeing Mickie against Gail.

i agree best divas match i seen in a long time and a pretty decent raw

The divas match was great. I am so happy to see Gail get the win and eventual title shot. I liked Slaughter and DX was alright. But, i wonder how in the long run they will fair in a PG rated world.

I did not see all of Raw, but what i saw was better than usual.

Exclusive Update: More on The Ric Flair/WWE Situation
by Nick Paglino
Aug 11, 2009

I spoke with several other sources today who are close to the Ric Flair/WWE situation and I have received a few updates.

Firstly, it seems as if NBC and Bonnie Hammer were not pushing for Flair on WWE TV, it was more that Vince McMahon was considering putting Flair on Raw in a long term role. However, when the NBC and Bonnie Hammer "more star power" conversation happened, Flair was immeditately taken off the Raw radar as the network does not consider Flair to be the type of star they want heading Raw. It was at this time that Vince McMahon decided to put Flair on Smackdown, however tensions arose between the two parties and Flair has been stalled out ever since.

NBC feels that Ric Flair is "wrestling star power," whose popularity has not crossed over into the mainstream world like it did with The Rock, Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan and to some extent John Cena. Additionally, NBC felt that having Flair return to Raw would not provide the show with the constant star power that they are getting every week with guys like Shaq and Jeremy Piven. While it's no secret that most within the wrestling world hated the Raw episode featuring Piven, the network loved it because he brought mainstream credibility to WWE as he is a popular commodity amongst younger audiences who watch "Entourage," etc.

NBC's general feeling with Flair is that he is an aging star who does not connect with the younger audience as someone like Piven or Shaq does, and that although Flair might spike Raw ratings for a week or two, he would never benefit the show on a long term basis. Smartly, Vince does not want Flair for just one week, he wants something substantial for him if he is going to use him at all, otherwise, Flair is just like Sgt. Slaughter; you bring him out once, use him up, then put him back out to pasture.

So with no room for Flair on Raw, Vince decided he was going to use him on Smackdown, but then, as we reported several times, Flair pissed McMahon off by wanting to work other dates with other promotions while working with WWE, so Vince decided that he didn't need Flair and we haven't seen him on WWE TV ever since.

Right, because Clinton is a married man and he wouldn't dream of hitting on the Divas. :1orglaugh

i love Flair... but as a life long wrestling fan (possibly bias based) i don't connect with jeremy piven (p.c.u. one of my fav movies) or shaq (i hate basketball) but you want to connect with the younger audience? the older males? and the women?..... either....
WHEN YOU HEAR THE GLASS YOU KNOW IT'S YOUR ASS....

OR

YOU ARE STAYING THE NIGHT AND NEED A ROOM AT THE SMACKDOWN HOTEL!

bring in either of these guys as a GM!
fuck bring back bischoff!
you need a GM and not a pushover GM or a Power trip GM.
someone who "sees" the unjusts of a randy orton (intentionally getting DQ'd/Counted out) and rights it...
someone who stacks the deck against the loved Cena....and then he loses to this stacked deck.
they only work with a few stars a week, never try to work in mid card guys or young guys.
but it all starts with WRITERS. get some different writers in there for good/better storylines and McMahon's..... let them do something that takes 8 weeks or 3 months to come together and has a huge payoff. not something that the McM's veto immediately because Cena or HHH aren't winning.
ugh im done with that rant!

Rumor: Gregory Helms & Velvet Sky Break Up?, Details
by Matt Boone
Aug 13, 2009

Nicole Lopez sent along the following:

Hi, I have an account on your site (RatedRDiva) and I have this juicey scope on why TNA Knockout Velvet Sky and WWE Superstar Gregory Helms broke up.

I was able to connect the dots before it was stated on their wikipeadia pages that the two were no longer dating. So on Helms Twitter page (WWW.Twitter.com/HurricaneHelms) you can see that he and former WWE Diva Victoria (Now known as TNA Knockout Tara) have a bit of a flirty tweeting back and forth, while on Tara's twitter page (WWW.Twitter.com/TNALisaMarie) Tara states to him "The important thing is I care about you" He was also talking about her lips, and we all know what the wink sign means ;)

I was also able to tell the two were toast because on Helms twitter page he stated "All good things must come to an end" and on Velvets Myspace Helms is no longer on her top friends.

I do think that Victoria/Tara haves something to do with Sky's and Helms break up. Judging from the past rumors with her and the Guerrero's, and Benoit is leading me to think that was all true.

Does she really love to "mess around" with people who are in relationships? Please get to me once you read this and tell me your opinion.

you know what i never had a problem with this guy being the GM. they never gave him a chance. what did he have 3 weeks a month or so.
he got nervous sometimes and had to settle into the position of being the guy who has ALOT to say ON THE AIR....LIVE. (no pressure there huh?)
i liked howthey had him like the pushover GM ....but give it a month or 2 with guys in his ear and having him help them and then him finally realizing it and becoming the no nonsense Gm... god i should write for the WWE

so they spent months turning matt bad just to have him go good again ?

is kidnapping a guy and beating him up and hanging him from a rope pg rated ? how do they really get away with a pg rating

Well I don't know if you noticed but they've started showing Melina's entrance from the back again. Although from a far shot.

by Matt Boone
Aug 14, 2009

WWE issued the following statement today:

Statement on Linda McMahon and the United States Senate

Linda McMahon, CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, is considering a run for the United States Senate representing the state of Connecticut. Should she decide to run, Linda would step down as CEO, and Vince McMahon would assume the duties of CEO in addition to his current position as WWE Chairman.
