It's the fault of the board in that it became a place that a lot of the old members didn't want to visit as much. A lot of old people were soured on it over time. That's being due to both the way it has been run and the flood of new people that didn't take it as seriously and turned it into a place loaded with a lot of mindless stuff.

While dumb threads have always been a part of this place, this messageboard is nothing like it was 4-7 years ago. Today I have to search around and sift through everything to find the few kernels of things here and there worth reading let alone posting on. It's sad when I can come on here and pretty much know I will be skipping about 90-95% of what's in this section, and that‘s a good day. I remember the days when I would come into the talk section and there might be 15 good threads that day if not more. A large portion of them even had nothing to do with porn. In the past there were a gigantic amount of decent things that people contributed. The members were overall more insightful and more friendly to the point where there was a family atmosphere between people or at least a coherent community. I don't get that anymore. That was even felt between a lot of the people that often disagreed with each other. While the dumb aspects where there, the mindless porn threads where there, and the trolls where there, they were blunted by the other things. Not to mention that a gigantic core portion of the old senior members would ridicule that stuff instead of contributing to it.

Well, we are remembering 2 different boards. I will agree that it was different that Politics and Sports weren't segregated, and I'm sure that people wish I'd quit bitching about it. I'm of the opinion that anyone that thinks that these two topics should be apart, but think the board is worse than it was is guilty of self-contradiction. Take away the option to present these topics in "general population", don't complain about what's left to talk about.

I will never understand the perception that if a member no longer posts here, it's somehow someone else's fault. I've been a member of other boards where people came and went. People in general, and Americans in particular, have a 15 minute attention span. Want an example? On Sept. 11, 2001 I posted a thread on a board I was a member of asking how long it would take America to quit giving a shit about Osama bin Laden. And lo and behold, it happened. And it didn't take that fuckin' long either. Why should it be any different with someone's participation on a porn board?

I guess you either don't remember or liked that every day, the board used to be covered with one inane poll after another. This girl vs. that girl. And in terms of "sifting and searching", hell, I've been doing that since the day I wandered in here. And I've pretty much covered this in my first paragraph. Everything shoved into its own individualistic corner doesn't leave much to talk about here.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If you have a problem with the quality of threads, make some of your own. Galactic doesn't have a problem doing it. Ulysses doesn't have a problem doing it. By definition, you have the entire interweb at your fingertips. Find something you think is cool/thought provoking/worthy of discussion, and share it with the rest of us.
