Will Trump turn american citizens to Vladimir Putin ?

'Absurd, crazy': Trump discussed allowing Putin to interrogate US ambassador

Proposal by Vladimir Putin that the US allow Russia to question Michael McFaul met by outrage in Washington

The White House has declined to rule out accepting a Russian proposal to question on US soil American people – including the former ambassador to Moscow Michael McFaul – sought by the Kremlin for “illegal activities”.

The proposal arose at Monday’s summit between the US president Donald Trump and the Russian president Vladimir Putin, and any decision by Washington to assist with an adversary’s prosecution of former government employees overseas would be a stunning shift in US policy, especially as it could violate the international legal principle of diplomatic immunity.

“The president is going to meet with his team and we’ll let you know when we have an announcement on that,” White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders told
a news briefing. Sanders added that Trump “said it was an interesting idea ... He wants to work with his team and determine if there is any validity that would be helpful to the process”.

Sanders’s comments prompted outrage in the US, including from McFaul, a vocal Putin critic.

“When Trump says Russia is no longer targeting America, that’s not how this American feels,” McFaul wrote on Twitter.
“Putin is most certainly targeting and intimidating me. And I’m an American.”

It comes after Putin suggested at the Helsinki summit that he would let US investigators be present for questioning of 12 Russian intelligence officers charged last Friday on allegations they carried out cyber attacks to interfere in the 2016 US election if Russians could do the same in America for people connected to money manager Bill Browder, a one-time investor in Russia. Browder has said he helped expose corruption in Russia.
Putin accused Browder of making campaign contributions to Trump’s election rival Hillary Clinton with money he earned in Russia on which he did not pay taxes. Putin said US intelligence officers helped Browder.

On Wednesday, the Russian prosecutor general’s office listed Americans it wants to question for “illegal activities”, including McFaul, who was US ambassador to Russia during the Obama administration and is now at Stanford University in California.

US State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert called the Russian allegations “absolutely absurd”.
“The prosecutor general in Russia is well aware that the United States has rejected Russian allegations in this regard,” Nauert told a briefing.

McFaul told Reuters he has contacted Stanford lawyers. He denied Russia’s accusations and expressed deep concern that the White House failed to defend him.
“It’s crazy and should be called crazy and outrageous, not just by me, but by the US government,” McFaul said.

Samantha Power, the former US ambassador to the UN, said Trump’s refusal to stand up to Putin was “a travesty”, while Democrat congressman Ted Lieu said it was “batshit crazy”.
Browder said on Fox Business Network that it was “just shocking” for Trump’s spokeswoman to say they were considering letting Russia question US officials.

But I'm pretty sure some here will be ecstatic if Trump would just give some people to Putin, even without any counter-parts, even if it mean these people would be killed withiin days.
People such as Barrack Obama and his entire administration (including Michelle Obama), Bill and Hillary Clinton (and maybe even Chelsea), every single TV host working on CNN or MSNBC, Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, Jon Stewart, Chris Wallace, Shepard Smith, Megyn Kelly, etc...

Trump didn’t turn people toward Putin, the fucking deep state and the Democrats did and the dishonest media.

I think he meant hand over American citizens to Putin.

Putin is being generous enough to offer the Mueller team access to those 12 Russian hackers. Who knows, maybe some extradition trade deal can be worked out. Afterall, those 12 Russian hackers "committed an attack on the U.S. on the level of 9/11" according to the liberal media.

All because John Podesta and the DNC are really stupid.

Yeah, I only read the thread title. I mentioned the other day that it would be awesome if those indicted could enter a plea and let the discovery process begin. I never thought in a million years that it would happen, but Putin is very shrewd. He knows Mueller will never accept the offer.

He was considerably more shrewd knowing Trumpy would jump at it. "A really incredible offer" LOL Another mind-bogglingly brain dead Trump moment. Thank GOD that on occasion somebody in that administration is able to reason him down off a cliff.

“ Incredible” is not necessarily an endorsement. I am still waiting to see evidence of all these brain dead decisions. All I am seeing is record low unemployment, looking down the barrel of 4 percent growth and peace blowing up all over the place. As with all Republicans, the left like to paint them as idiots. Trump doesn’t speak like a politician, he hasn’t been groomed for office since he was 12 and call it serendipity or whatever, but he keeps ramming it up the asses of liberals on a regular basis. He’s plenty smart, not the greatest gift of gab, but he has better instincts than any president of my lifetime.

Did you watch the presser? Clearly he thought it was "good" incredible.

I feel rather certain you will. Particularly in regard to foreign affairs. But also with the environment, and possibly the economy as well.

He's been a self-promoting public/media figure and influence purchaser for decades. That may very well have groomed him to be more of a phony than most politicians.
The guy even used two aliases in attempts to promote himself *lol*
And...he knows exactly how to play politics with his base. He's actually a master at it.

You people have been predicting Trump’s demise for almost exactly 3 years now.

I don’t feel like multi-quoting so I’ll break it down.

I can’t blame him for reveling in Putin taking a jab at Mueller. He’s sick of the shit.

His father Fred Trump was a low key guy. He didn’t even want him doing business in Manhattan.
I thought the John Miller thing was brilliant. He has control over his PR. What was he supposed to do, call a meeting and hand out press releases with a question and answer follow up period afterwards?

He’s good at politics but he’s not playing. He is keeping his promises to his base. If he builds the wall, they’ll put him on Rushmore.

I appreciate that you see his motivation pretty much the same way I do.
But at the same time this is also where you lose me. How is it ok to make a collossal mistake that could well jeapordize america and americans just because you're sick of something?
