Islam is inanimate. We don't need it to conform. We need more of it's followers to put their beliefs in the context of living in a pluralistic world.

All religions are principally absolute in one way or another if the follower wants to be fundamental about it.

Followers of all religions can be too fundamental in their beliefs..Muslims in particular condone far too much fundamentalism which can make it incompatible in a pluralistic world.

To the question...Islam (in the form of Muslims) have already conformed to the west. The question is can pluralism be accepted in the Muslim world.
