Why Are Liberals So Condescending?

Liberals are condescending and elitist just as conservatives are uptight and overbearing.

Both have decent qualities about them I will give it that. Conservatives have a nice fiscal outlook; just as liberals have a overall decent social outlook.

I'm sure if the two stopped bickering like an old couple and listened to each other things might change. Who knows though.

Division seems to be the epitome of mankind. Mainly because people think with either the right or the left side of the brain....

not THAT's an idea! shame it'll never happen...politicians are so caught up with sabotaging the other party and being against the opposing team that they've lost sight of the fact that they are supposed to work together and compliment one another for the good of the people and the nation as a whole...

This is why I feel there should be a uprising with the people. The two things that politicians fear the most is: when the people realize they have a voice and the power of voting.

Come to think of it, your average street corner wino/beggar, illegal alien drug pusher, neo marxist / neo revolutionary or any other enemy of America for that matter are also very nasty, arrogant and condescending. :D

What might they all have in common?
They're all on the take and they are relatively untouchable.
The more lax and divided we become as a nation, the better they thrive.

Why does the average wino/beggar I see carry a "Vietnam Vet" sign or, now, "Iraqi Vet" sign? I'm not aware of a Marxist context embedded in that sign, are you?

Are beggers the enemy of America? You seem to say they are? If illegal aliens are also the enemies of America why do so many Conservative Chamber of Commerce types hire them?

Just askin..

Until I joined this site I had only ever heard one person say that the planet is 6,000 years old. Come to think of it that's still the only person. Yet I see all the atheists that saturate this place bring it up all the fuckin time. Why is that I wonder?:dunno:

Conservatives have the guns, liberals have...................uh.........uhm.........uhhh....

I don't know of any Atheist or Agnostic who believes that the earth is only 6000 years old. Christian bible bangers believe that. :dunno:

I've been around a lot of Christians and a lot of people who aren't necessarily Bible thumpers, and like I said only one of them ever said the planet was 6,000 years old. So I don't know where you guys are hanging out but you're either full of or just trying to start shit with this.

i believe its true.
its undeniable.
i've seen it too many times to dismiss it as just isolated incidents.
smugness, arrogance, disrespect.
boxer, emanuel, pelosi, schumer and many more not so famous dems.
it makes me want to slap slap slap the night away on their smug faces.

why are liberals usually more smug?
maybe because they think that there thinking process is superior to others.
they have a false sense of self esteem and it comes out in huge clouds of smug all the time.
thaaaaaaaaaanks!

Are these people liberals? Nearly every democrat in congress is a corrupt snake completely ensnared in corporate interests. Are we forgetting the definition of liberal?

from OED:

Of political opinions: Favourable to constitutional changes and legal or administrative reforms tending in the direction of freedom or democracy.

I am a political liberal and I do find myself talking down to people that I disagree with as if they were stupid (some are but in truth, most are not). That does not help in getting things done. Has name calling and hair pulling really solved any problems, ever? Not in what I have seen. But for a lot of people. including myself, it's often more important to be right instead of actually working together and getting shit done.

Maybe it's the fact that this minority of individuals seem to have garnered enough political power in the US (primarily during the Bush years, but they're still around now just look at the Texas school text book fiasco) to seriously influence what might be taught in your children's science classrooms in years to come. The Dover trial for example is a prime example of this.

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
You completely misunderstood my post.

I think this exact statement will quite likely be the final entry by PlumpRump in this thread once everyone who has actually taken him seriously has commented. :D

And....

Not to sound condescending but....

All you narrow-minded partisan types are exactly like Pavlov's dog. Ring the bell and watch the show begin. Quite humorous actually since the responses are oh-so-predictable. You've been very well conditioned indeed. Keep getting your "information" only from Fox News or MSNBC or Rush or Randi Rhodes or whoever is on "your side" and keep living in your comfy-cozy little box.

How anyone can willingly label themselves as an absolute "liberal" or "conservative" on every subject or matter is incomprehensible to me. Such a predisposition indicates an indoctrination into a philosophy that dictates how you must think on any given subject, regardless of the variables. I'd like to think that most of us are more open-minded than that but either that majority is indeed a very silent one or the sad truth is that most of us are quite content to march like a bunch of automatons in lockstep with our like-minded brethren who have all the right answers to all the questions about which the "other side" is unequivocally, absolutely and universally wrong, wrong, wrong.

Think about your own everyday lives. How many issues or decisions that involve interaction with other people do you have to deal with or make every day that are absolutely and without any question one way or the other.....100% black or white beyond any doubt? Virtually zero is my guess. In the real world, the true solution usually lies somewhere in the middle....in the fuzzy gray area that most of us who are too committed to one philosophy or another are willing to go simply because that's the way we've been conditioned to think no matter what. If ignorance truly is bliss, most of us must be walking around in a constant state of incredibly idyllic euphoria.

Very sad and, most unfortunately for all of us, very real with no sign of any impending abatement. :(

Anyway, sorry if I spoiled your partisan fun. You may now resume your bickering.

Objective post. I suppose though, issues crash down on what's "right". I think if a person considers what's fair, reasonable and consistent in an issue...they'll most likely be correct or "right". I don't think getting shit done has to come at the expense of what's right. Caring about "right" isn't wrong....Caring more about being seen as "right" than what's right is wrong IMO.

This is the reason they don't have followers and why a place like Air America descended into shit. It's the same way with most atheists you will meet. Oh yeah, and Miller said something as well:

;)

Who better to point out condescension than a guy who's based his entire comedic career around the shtick, Dennis Miller.

Dennis Miller reckoning who's condescending is like Mel Gibson calling out someone for being a drunk, possessive, abusive blowhard.:2 cents::2 cents:

So there really is a group of people trying to push this horseshit? Incredible!

This is the only thing that makes any sense. How do people do it?

My father knows very little of politics but he's a union guy through and through and therefore refuses to vote anyway other than
Democrat across the board. That's just an example and the only one I can think of at the moment.

I hate politicians, all of them, both parties have been out to fuck the American public and further their own expanding wealth and power for as long as I've been around at least.
