I have watched almost every episode of the five major series', i'm talking a more than 90% rate here. My favorite character of all of the characters that I have encountered in Star Trek is Jean-Luc Picard. He is therefor also my favorite of the "captains."

My take on battling the Borg is this...the more the Borg show up the more the aura about how greatly imposing a threat they are is diminished.

They have such an imposing presence in The Next Generation to me because of how little they show up. In Voyager they appear & are defeated at a rate that causes me to scoff a bit at their supposed imposing horribleness. It seems to be one of those things where the more you know about something the less you are afraid of it...that & the fact that the Borg start having enemies that can defeat them, it just makes them seem like a made up race of supper bad guys that are being used by writers too often to be as menacingly powerful as they are supposed to be...oh wait thats exactly what they are. To me the Borg are most effective when used sparingly for maximum impact.

^^ Trudat.

Also, the Borg had so many ships, they could have assimilated the entire Galaxy, never mind the Delta and Alpha Quadrants. Especially after stealing Slipstream technology.

I like how Janeway jutted her chin under even the most frightening looking opponent, no matter how tall and formidable they were. But, ya, the Borg were kinda overdone.

If we were left in the hands of Kirk with his cowboy like antics, we would all be assimilated by now! Picard is the superior officer!

Speaking of the Borg... I am digin' the new idea that we created with them with Vyger. Look it up on YouTube... that would be an awesome movie! Maybe that is why Q introduced us to them... to show what even our best intentions could result in! Maybe he is right... we are too young?!

Kirk tops all.

I'm going to go with Kirk, whilst not a fan of the series. The originals are the only episodes I enjoy watching if I have to.

Jean-Luc Picard

Has to be Picard. Closely followed by bald Sisko, once he lost the hair he become the Captain we knew he could be.

Well the hottest Security Cheif was Tasha Yar.

I hope Denise Crosby Kicked herself very hard, very often for leaving the show. Sure they brought her back, but the exposure she wouldve had from being a mainstream character would have relly helped her career, whens the last time anyone heard from her. But at the same time her leaving helped other characters effectively move up a peg, Worf stole the limelight after that and look how cool a charcter he became.

Oh that is tough. I have to go with Picard, but old James T. is hard to beat in some respects. Picard didn't nail nearly one of every female being encountered throughout the universe.

And he didn't say "Spaaahhhhck..."

And he certainly didn't say:

With the sole exception of Patrick Stewart, (And maybe William Shatner if you count the fact he's willing to whore himself out to pretty much any television show no matter how bad.) because of type casting among other things when has the last time Star Trek was good for any of the actors' careers on it? How many of them went on to better things after they were on the show. In fact, I would say Star Trek has become somewhat infamous because of that from an acting perspective.

Picard. Sisko is a very very close second.

Picard almost made Captaincy look easy.

Sisko had the weight of being a single dad, being the Emissary, turning around a scuttled hunk of space junk, war with the Klingons, the Dominion...in other words he made it seem human.

i am not a trekkie, but i recognize this:
being regular star trek cast member = meal ticket for life

vast majority of actors struggle to find acting work of any kind

if you are known as a star trek character, you will always be paid to make appearances and sign autographs for the rest of your life
