I still use Win 98, Ver2.
Mivrosoft is taking out the support from this month on Win 98.
I have to migrate to other OS.

Where is better to ask for advice than on "Freeones"?

Help me decide friends.

Well how old is your computer??

If you have less than 256mb ram or a processor slower than 400mHz, go for Windows 2000. With anything better, Windows XP is the way to go =P

Jesus, I thought my last computer was old. I had that piece of **** for 5 years. It was a laptop and one of the hinges were broken so you had to be careful when you closed it.

2000 professional technology NT with service pack 4 or xp pro service pack2 update with the latest directx, windows media player 11 is available download it, same comment for divx 6.2.5 and quicktime 7.1. I was running with 2000 till last year on a pentium 4 with 1.5 GIG of RAM but 2000 has a bad tendancy to make the config panel often crash that is why I replaced it by XP PRO.

Yes, the satyricon is right plus you have many cool extensions with firefox. IE7 according to what many people said me is a pure firefox rip off and you can't add extensions.

I'm sorry but is there really any difference in any of the windows products? I mean the "OS" doesn't even natively support CD/DVD burning..... it also isn't properly an OS - it is a program....

I run Mac OSX (10.4.6). I have no interest in starting a boring battle or arguement about OSs, but if you look at the underpinnings alone, forgetting about the stability and GUI, Mac OSX is years ahead, if not more.

If you're lucky, Tachi will come along and post some solid info about the differences of the two...

... and if porn is your main objective, then there is absolutely no question it is a superior system...
