The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
The Transporter made me a fan of Jason Statham. It wasn't a great movie, but it was pretty bad ass.

I am a fan of no actors/actresses.

Producers, writers and directors (in that order) make movies special. Actors are incredibly over rated and eminently replaceable.

Really? Wow.

So, you're saying that it wouldn't matter if Jeff Goldblum played Edward Scissorhands instead of Johnny Depp, or if Lisa Kudrow played Queen Elizabeth instead of Helen Mirren?

Well, obviously they have to look the part. But I believe that if you name any famous roll, several other actors could have done as well or better.
But without the words to say, the role is useless. Actors bring characters to life. But the characters are created by writers and producers and directors. The actor just says what the others want. And if he/she doesn't. The others will force him/her to keep doing it until they do it the way the others want.

Producers are the leaders.
Writers are the generals.
Directors are the sargents (though sometimes their generals too).
And actors are the foot soldiers...they just follow orders.

Mad Max - Mel Gibson
The Godfather - Al Pacino
Silence of the lambs - Anthony Hopkins
Pretty Woman - Julia Roberts
James Bond - Sean Connery

Yeah, but without actors to play the part, the words are useless as well.

That's like saying the head coach on a football team is the most important and that the players don't really matter all that much, since, they're just following orders and doing what they're told. You have to be able to carry out those orders with success.

A good management team is only half of the puzzle, you also need good players to execute your vision.

I've seen a lot of movies go to complete shit because of poor casting choices and poor acting. I've also seen movies go to complete shit because of poor directing and producing. IMO, you need both sides to be good, not just one.
