I'm not married therefore there are no children but if there were son-gay will not be any problem. I have nothing against gays as long as they don't try to take me down. And if my son is gay I'd find another gay to hook him up with.

Sexual identity or inclination have no bearing on military ability. People used similar arguments to keep women out of the service, the police, fire departments etc.

It's their choice at the end of the day. No one can force them to like the opposite sex if they dont want to. They would still be loved just as much as they were before I found out they were gay. I guess some dont share that thought, that's fine, it's their choice for their kids, but IMO they are being cruel to their kids if that's the case. And a true parent will be supportive of their children no matter what they do.
