What is Capitalism

Theopolis Q. Hossenffer

I have no opinion
As an aside I still am surprised when I think of how many younger workers have no idea how the "benefits", you know, 40 hour week, vacations, pensions, healthcare etc. came about. It's as if they think that these things came out of the Corporations benevolent nature. Everybody hates Unions now, never realizing how much and how hard those folks fought(and sometimes died) to earn this things(My ancestors and relatives were coal miners in W. Virginia).. Many of the Unions got too big for their britches I agree but it must be remembered that the purpose of a union is to make their members lives better.

The same way he would change *************** - stop doing it. If you don’t look for corruption, then you won’t find any. Simple. Problem solved.

That not a fair assessment of the defund disarm police movement, as you should know from everything @Straight Shooter had posted in his thread - *************** must be reimagined and should be replaced with peacekeeping, and more on this can be found posted by @Straight Shooter posts.

I know it is not fair assessment of the defund the police movement. I wasn’t referring to them. And frankly I am unsure why you thought I was referring to them.

@Straight Shooter is a good poster. He has been contributing more and longer than many here.

How would you stop corruption?

This is not easy to answer, even with more funding to police as the system is now government are not able to stop corruption not can they say how they can eliminate it in the future.

Can you name a specific incident of corruption so I can speak to one specific incident?

Assessing anything in general would not be accurate enough.

Maybe point to one of your prior posts or videos and I can share my thoughts on how to stop or prevent those specific incidents.

Well, I thought you were referring to the defund/disarm police movements because that is what I have posted about all along - as you can see my first post on that thread was a CBC video of Desmond Cole taking about the defund/disarm movements.

Also my posts after that speak to my thoughts reimagining policing in the future, so your statement is an unfair assessment of my posts as well.

All found in @Staight Shooter thread, which you have posted in many times before and have replied to my posts there too.

One thing that will happen if a Federal minimum is raised to a high level is that those folks currently making that wage(whether $15 or?) when they realize that the "fast food workers " are making the same as them, will demand raises. Not necessary a bad thing but just watch.
https://thehill.com/homenews/state-...ies-and-states-just-raised-their-minimum-wage
Awhile ago we were discussing the federal minimum wage. On July 1, a few areas increased their wages for a variety of reasons. How generous of SF:

San Francisco
The city’s minimum wage increased by 25 cents, from $16.07 to $16.32.

Facebook’s Broken Vows
How the company’s pledge to bring the world together wound up pulling us apart.
https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2021/08/02/facebooks-broken-vows

"But by the nineteen-nineties corporate mission statements had moved from the realm of strategic planning to public relations. That’s a big part of why they’re bullshit. One study from 2002 reported that most managers don’t believe their own companies’ mission statements. Research surveys suggest a rule of thumb: the more ethically dubious the business, the more grandiose and sanctimonious its mission statement."

"Collecting data and selling ads does not build community, and it turns out that bringing people closer together, at least in the way Facebook does it, makes it easier for them to hurt one another. Facebook wouldn’t be so successful if people didn’t love using it, sharing ****** photographs, joining groups, reading curated news, and even running small businesses. But studies have consistently shown that the more time people spend on Facebook the worse their mental health becomes; Facebooking is also correlated with increased sedentariness, a diminishment of meaningful face-to-face relationships, and a decline in real-world social activities."

"Over the protests of many Facebook employees, Zuckerberg had adopted, and stuck to, a policy of not subjecting any political advertisements to fact-checking. Refusing to be “an arbiter of truth,” Facebook instead established itself as a disseminator of misinformation."

The bigger corporations get the more they see themselves as Citizens of the World. Accountable to no one and responsible for nothing. As I have said before, man's technology has advance faster than his agility to adapt to it. And money being God to many if not most, you can guess how it will turn out.

Dubai Is A Parody Of The 21st Century

Does anybody ever think it's funny how when it's an employers market companies will keep from paying people well and will exploit the ever living **** out of people as much as they can get way with using excuse that it's just the fair market rate? However, when people just don't want to work at those companies shitty low paying jobs anymore and they are struggling for workers you never hear about that increased market rate stuff they would have to pay to actually bring people in and now somehow all the people that don't want to work for them are just considered lazy ingrates. It's funny how that works.

Ok, let's get something straight as you've just posted, if capitalism is an economic system(like you posted in post above mine here) and not an operating system(like you posted in your original post) - is there anywhere you can think of where capitalism isn't the economic system?

You can post it in a meme like most of your posts are if you want to.

I can think of a few places.

Mars?

I don't know, list the places where capitalism isn't the economic system.

Martians are definitely capitalistic. Otherwise they would not have been visiting us over the centuries. :)

Pluto would be my guess. Only a socialistic ‘planet’ would get demoted.
