For it, in a way.

It'd save a lotta effort finding someone you can talk to, someone you can sex with, etc.

My wife, my parents and my wifes parents tell me that I am for it, and will disown me and write me out of the will if I disagree. I have typed this at my own free will after being told what to say by my wife, my parents and my wifes parents.

If the people who are getting married consent to it, sure, why not? Not something I could ever do though.

Forced marriages, on the other hand, are awful. It's like trying to legalise rape.

But just think about how flabby and timid that we'd be if we didn't have to chase and assert. I . . I guess that it wouldn't matter anyway . . forget it. :D

I forgot to add -

As long as the Sharia Law doesn't come with the deal, I'm OK with it.
Like hell if I'd be stoning my wife in the event that she were raped !

I'm not too keen on it, it's one of those things like polygamy. It seems very archaic and certainly out of place with our cultural perspectives.

on the other hand, in both instances couples usually say that they are happy and the marriages tend to be more stable than our own "traditional" ones, so I can't really argue with that.

Neo: Choice, the problem is choice.

The Architect: There are two doors. The door to your right leads to the Source and the salvation of Zion. The door to your left leads back to the Matrix, to her... and to the end of your species. As you adequately put, the problem is choice. But we already know what you are going to do, don't we? Already I can see the chain reaction: the chemical precursors that signal the onset of an emotion, designed specifically to overwhelm logic and reason. An emotion that is already blinding you to the simple and obvious truth.

I believe that sums up how I feel about the illusion of choice in many matters. Just how free are we to find someone, keep them happy, find any stability or security? Ehh.. it's just sort of a depressing view.. but it's like they tell you in school.. by the time you graduate high school and college, there will be fewer jobs, higher experience and specialization requirements.. but you *need* an education.

Or marriage. The number is constantly falling.. so many singles, so many bajillions of people.. so this is the benefit of freedom and choice? Doesnt feel very free.

In a way that the arranged marriages are forced, I'm against it.
Otherwise it's the own decission of each individual, but it's not my choice.

Well, considering that 50% of all marriages end in divorce anyway, I don't see how arranging a marriage could make that statistic any worse, so...why not? :dunno:

you are right, the Wachowski brothers should not have been given the choice to make sequels to The Matrix.

Most marriages end in divorce, others in murder. Easy to figure out which are the arranged ones. Lot has to do with cultural backgrounds.

Have you seen The Matrix : Dezionized? A fanedit that lumps the 2nd and 3rd movies but without zion, the neo-trinity love scene.. ya know, all the stuff some people hated.

You might like it, you might've already seen it.
