Website promotion (or spam)??

Ok, maybe it's just me... but it kind of irritates me when models come on here with their websites only to post promotional stuff for their site and nothing else. They don't participate in the thread discussions on the forum or anything! They just push their own websites down peoples throat like some online telemarketer.

Now Im not naming any names "yet" (but I will if I have to ;) )... but I just looked through the posts of one such perpetrator... and every single one of their post was website advertisement (or spam depending on how you look at it). Why are these people allowed to posts their ads like this?? Are they paying freeones off:confused: ? And what's to stop 200 more from comming to do the same thing and cluttering the forums with this crap? I wouldn't have a problem with people advertising their sites at all if they would actually "participate" in the forum discussions instead of just using it to plug their site.

As long as it's in their thread that's fine. As this is something that you need to expect from OCSM's. After all remember they do have to make money like the rest of us. After all the best place for them to place a advert for their website, etc. Is in the thread that their fans goto. This is just a little price we have to pay for having the great ladies here.

But if they say came into the talk section to start doing the same then yes that would be spam. But as they don't then no it isn't.

One or two of the OCSM's do post in the talk section anyway and it's not spam or even to mention a shoot or website.

True, most of them just post on their own thread (and that's fine). A few of them even talk in the discussions in the talk forum. But there is one in particular that DOES post in the talk section, only to promote their site. And even worse, they dont keep it in one thread, but make a new thread for every single update to their site. That's spamming IMO.

Your talking about Unknown and that is only one of them. Plus if it did get out of hand a mod would stop it.

So spamming is ok, so long as it doesnt get out of hand??

Spamming is not OK I'm sure. OCSM's are certainly a different situation. If they are "paying FreeOnes off" as you put it, I for one don't see it as any of our business. Affiliation of any sort is for FreeOnes to discern and decide not us. Without that FreeOnes would no longer be free to us I think.

When I see such a thread if its not a OCSM I hit the "!" and report it to the mods and put in a post the board rules link. Suggesting they contact someone about becoming an OCSM. Just my :2 cents:

Note: Also several OCSM's do come here regularly, interact and have fun.

Yes, Im aware of this. I have no problem with them. My beef is with those who use the board for nothing other than to post up their website promo stuff. I think it should be limited to one thread per website, or placed in a separate forum of the board.

Why does it bother you so much?

They're just links, and you're a big boy now. I'm sure you can ignore it.

You really think most of them would be here if they weren't able to push their site, contests they're in, places they'll be?

Doesn't bother me though. Just like anyone else whoring a product/site out. But, at least the ones that chat a bit are friendly.

It's just that this forum is supposed to be a "talk" or "discussion" forum. Im all for advertising, but there is a right way to do it, and I dont think spamming is it. The only reason it's not a big deal is because there aren't 200 people doing it... yet.

Exactly! So the ones that are only here for that purpose should be doing their advertising in a separate part of the forum, IMO. If a respected member that posted in a lot of discussions before hand wanted to advertise his/her website, then that's one thing. But these are people that wouldnt even take part in the site at all if it wasnt for their ad campaign. They dont post in any other threads but their own. I dont think it's right... but that's just my opinion.

The exposure is the point. They are busy and do come in to share announcements and new stuff with the members that follow them. Again that is FreeOnes choice how its handled. These threads certainly don't bother me. I throw a  and note at them when they are here. After all they help keep it free for us. ;)

I myself think suffering through the "how many times a day do you wank", "who has the best tits part three" is a much harder to handle situation than a OCSM coming in once in awhile and bumping their thread. Then again they say the same about that, don't go in the thread if it doesn't suit you. IMHO of course.

You have to also remember that the OCSMs might be given a little bit more leeway than the rest of us, and I don't have a problem with that. This site is about them after all.

I can't really knock it against them - they've got their own websites to manage and need to make money somehow. It would be nice to see a few of them actively post in discussions, but I know they have lives and can't always engage with us in discussion. It's always a treat to see them, though, so I don't mind. :)

I think you are so right. I also think little bit are the operative words here. I for one have no problem with it either. Other than their site link and the sharing of events etc. they have to abide by the rules as much as us I think. At least that's how I've seen it in the years I've been here. No hardcore pics etc. I have seen things deleted many times and rudeness to members by one stopped in the past. Again, affiliation and how its handled is not my (our) concern I feel. IMHO of course.

there is no yet. the reason why there arent 200 spammers here is because the mods do an excellent job deleting every single one. a while ago, there was a little spamming problem in the games section. but guess who took care of it? :)

I still can't see a problem with it. If the OCSM puts their name on it and your not a fan. Then you won't enter the thread anyway.

Honestly, I'm halfway with Xaru on this one. They come, post a topic and go. Which.. wouldnt be all that bad if the pictures werent so medium-res and tame.

But like has been said: This aint my domain. The mods and owners do as they will and the most I'd do is pretty much openly hint at a bad decision. Which is quite rare tho.

Speaking of.. where'd that nutty redhead chick go off to? I liked her. She was in the euro area..

Neither can I, my friend. :hatsoff: Every thread starter's name is visible before entering the thread and one can easily avoid it if one isn't a fan of a particular star. I cannot understand complaints about OCSM's advertising their sites, I find it to be a perfectly logical part of their business, and, isn't it great that the stars share their free stuff with us?
