Board Rules 2020: YOUR (Our Members) Opinions and Input!

My internet connection is also very fast. I just asked Verizon for an upgrade about two months ago.
Even at 5, navigating the board with tons of embedded and/or linked images is a huge pain in the ass until we get an option to load threads with newest posts at the top instead of the bottom. The more images are added, the harder it is for the board to load threads with first new post accurately loaded at the top of the browser window, i.e. it tries to "jump to new" by default and fails due to miscalculating the size of posts. Put newest post at the top and this huge annoyance goes away. Increasing the link limit from 5 to 10 just makes this problem worse.
Not so such the number of pictures in a post.

However I am in agreement with DrakeM's comment about image hosts ...

Exactly. It's that new German image host, Abload.de, that people are using.

Abload.de.JPG

I've complained about it. It's taking about a minute and a half sometimes two minutes to open a board page. Now I'm loading pictures from my externals taken directly from the members' pages of a website. The pictures are shrunken down. (I'm using Microsoft Picture Viewer and it puts pictures in the correct context to my monitor.) However, this German image host is putting in the picture at the actual size.

I know the image host ImageBox does limit the size of the picture. But you as the user have to check off the box. Otherwise, it too, will come over as actual size.

The only other recourse, would be for FreeOnes to outlaw certain image hosts. Give a listing of approved image hosts. Other forums do it.

Internet connection is fast and unlimited, the same can't be said for image hosting sight speeds and Xenforo's inability to cope with image sizes. If sorting by newest isn't possible on Xenforo then tell me and I'll stop asking for it and just get used to useless scrolling on every thread I read and post in.
I honestly don't know if that type of sorting is possible. An add-on for Xenforo may be needed. This is a question for Adam/Petra.

Whenever an image host becomes popular, several things usually start. They start hosting adware/malware/pop-ups/redirects and-or start bogging down. I've seen it happen too often. This is why I change my choice of image hosts from time to time

FYI, Abload is not new and I personally hate it.

Major Crimes? Shiiiit.
I feel that a maximum of 10 links in 24 hours per member should be allowed, more than that is overkill. Also I feel that a maximum of 5 pictures per member per thread in one week is ok however there should be a size cap on the pictures posted. I hate it when threads are overrun with pictures that can just be posted in links. Also post count span is annoying and detracts from what a thread is about. I also think that people that blatantly post repeats of recent posts should be penalized, that is why the edit function exists. Post something different, not a repeat of what came before. That is my 2 cents worth.

I think there actually is a size cap (not sure what it is though). I tried to post a pic a few days ago, but the board kept popping back with the pic name having a line thru it. I finally got it to post after cropping some of the pic.

Good to know I always keep my images on the smaller side and don't post too many if I can avoid it.

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
I think you should be allowed to appeal your case, when you are banned because of other members complaints. Just because someone has a pink title, or is popular, or influential doesn't mean they don't have an agenda, or can't be wrong.....or just a whiny vengeful fucking twunt.

Just sayin' if were gonna tweak the rules, lets look at it all.

You seem to be under the impression that we drop the hammer on every complaint, which we don't.

We do get quite a few complaints from those with a beef against someone, and we either ignore them, or message the one who complained how no rule was broken. Lately, it seems like a third of the reports we get are just nonsense in one way or another.

And, I do believe everyone has the right to appeal. Bans are rarely overturned, because those banned did something that was ban worthy.

This option would be really useful.

Yes, I agree, that´s why I'm been looking for threads similar in essence or with little variations to suggest that they could be merged.
For instance:
the best ass
the hottest ass
the perfect ass
the sexiest ass
and so on
One is tempted to posts in each one of them, but if they are merged we can find the best ass pics/links in one thread.
Other issue in my opinion, it is when there are so so specific threads that multiply a lot.
For instance
babes fucking looking over the right shoulder
babes fucking looking over the left shoulder
babes with clothes that are white in the top, red in the middle and blue in the bottom
babes sucking with one eye closed and the other open...
these are not real names, I'm just trying to making a case.

I highly doubt the administrators will combine or merge threads especially off the Fetish and Niche Forum. If they haven't done it for years, I wouldn't expect them to do it now. What we have problems with is when you fire bomb the Talk Forum at certain parts of the day and night. It buries threads under your posts. You move the same five pictures within the Fetish and Niche Forum as a daily occurrence. Okay you change the pictures and models up everyday (that is a good thing 👍 ) but you get the idea. If you don't want to hear complaints about your posts aka post count spam - simple as that - do the right thing and just don't post them. Use some common sense here.

So, What it is your proposal for rules?

For the majority of the threads here ... they may just have only one or two of my posts in them. Tops. And I'm talking since the time I joined in November 2010.

Mind you, I was helping Rory, who was the webmaster here before Petra, back in 2001 with biographical information on adult models and pornstars in the FreeOnes Wiki. But that was behind the scenes.

For many of the other threads here, I just ignore.

Post your pictures to one thread in the Fetish and Niche Forum. Not to multiple threads. As for the Talk Forum, same thing. Post to one thread only.

Sometimes it's not the quantity of the amount of posts that you have, but the quality of your posts. A wise website administrator told me that about fifteen years ago.

Bottom line, for me anyway, there's no race here to see who has the most posts on the FreeOnes Board.

The admins are not doing those merges, the moderators are. And, a lot of the reports we receive about duplicate posts in those threads are a result of threads being merged.

I keep seeing reports, "Ban this guy! He's spamming this thread with the same pics.", but those reports are wrong (due to thread merging), so no one is getting banned, because they haven't broken any rule.

Post count spam has been more about posting in the same thread, not multiple threads. If someone posts the same pics in 20 threads, it's not post count spam if the pics are relevant to the thread topic.

Some of those threads may need to be merged, but we can't penalize someone for not reporting duplicate threads. Every so often, I come across long-time members who aren't aware that we have a dedicated thread for reporting threads on the same subject.

As for quantity/quality, you are always going to have members who want to outdo others and be #1. Which can be a good thing, it helps bring traffic to the board. I remember when I had more posts than claydavis, but look at his post-count now. All the threads he's created on different stars has spurred interest.

DrakeM

Now with 35% less bullshit
I agree with Connor that posting the same thing in multiple relevant threads is not spamming, it is just being on topic. The problem is in having multiple threads for the same topic. I've recently seen, more than ever before in my time on the board, an effort to merge duplicate threads to get rid of this problem. This will piss certain people off who flagrantly misuse duplicate threads in this way and I'm glad, been an annoyance to me for years. Merging threads is not clean and will result in unhappiness for some but at least it is one-time unhappiness with a better board going forward.

We should be careful to distinguish between rules and style. Rules keep the board running sanely, style is how you choose to operate on the board within the rules. A style example: I always include the name of models (when I know them) in my posts, some people never do. Posting to multiple relevant threads is a style issue, opening multiple threads for the same topic is a rules issue (in my opinion). Please don't try to dictate style, at best suggest good posting practices but don't try to enforce them.

No. Not really. You could have easily PMed if you wanted to. No need to address this on the board for others to see.

Regarding the number of pics/links that will be finally ruled, in another forum that I am a member I've seen that it uses "XenForo™ © 2010-2018 XenForo Ltd.".
In this forum the limit is higher, 20 pics, but when someone tries to post more than 20, the system automatically refuses the post until you reduce the number to the allowed.
Maybe if this option is implemented here in FO it will free the Moderators from reviewing posts sbout this rule.
Regards

Many people never realized this, but under vBulletin, the FREEONES RULE was no more than 5 pics, but the software would actually allow up to 100 pics. I'm sure the admins can change that # in Xenforo and will probably do that once they make a final decision.

... The use of the "bump" posts should be forbidden, if someone want to relive a thread it sould be better to post some useful content and not only a word.
Here is a good example: About an hour ago, I saw an ID thread that a guy bumped. He created it 7 years ago and I solved it today. If there was no bumping allowed, he would have never gotten an answer.
