Yesterday James Clapper gave a speech at the National Press Club in Australia. He says the drumpf-Russia thing is way bigger than Watergate. But repubs control congress and they sure love the taste of drumpf's taint, so I guess it's US intelligence vs US government for now at least.
One of my favourite parts of the talk was when one of the reporters asked "how long do you think it will be before the world is sick of drumpf's bullshit?" That's not a direct quote, but it was that sentiment. A pretty good chunk of the world is already there...

After viewing Comey's testimony, I remain convinced that that there was nothing even remotely illicit about President Trump's "hope" that Comey would let go of the Flynn investigation. I realize that Comey interpreted it in that manner but, unless there was a direct order or explicit instructions to do so, simply to "hope" that the investigation would be let go constitutes nothing other than a desire for a particular outcome to be the end result of the present situation. Comey's conclusions are totally subjective and, although I am not a legal expert, I see nothing that approximates anything close to obstruction of justice or any other abuse of power. Trump is vindicated in this aspect of the investigation as far as I am concerned. I do wish that the president would show some outward concern for and condemn Russia for what appears to me to be the consensus belief that they conspired and attempted to interfere with our election process. He could go a long way toward ridding himself of any further speculation that he was somehow in collusion with these efforts and can at last get back to the job that he was elected to perform. Why he remains unwilling to do so is baffling but, even still, is indicative of nothing that would implicate him in any fashion.
Comey had no problem interpreting Trump's "I hope you can let it go" comment but for the life of him couldn't interpret Hillary Clinton's criminal intent with owning a private server for official classified material and obstruction of justice for dumping damaging emails.
