Watchmen: Movie

Will E Worm

Conspiracy...
Looks okay...I'm not expecting anything fantastic but yeah, I could be proved wrong.

Since being a major comic book fan and having to see every single comic book movie, I gotta see this one. I know a lot of Alan Moore's books have been turned into not so good movies, but I'm really pulling for this one.

Only two weeks now. I was at the comic book store the other day getting various graphic novels and I saw Watchmen figures. Alan Moore must be pulling his hair out.

Actually I thought From Hell and V For Vendetta were very good. Even Constantine for that matter. The only one that I thought sucked was LXG.
But From Hell was nothing like the graphic novel, as Moore has said he was trying to get away from the usual Jack The Ripper movies & stories with all the cliches, cliches that the movie of From Hell adhered to!!
V For Vendetta had some of the themes I suppose. The thing is movie makers thing just coz its a comic they can easily make them into movies but there's a reason Moore chose the comic book form, they aren't supposed to be adapted into any other medium.

So what! I don't mind if something is not an exact adaptation of the original medium. When they adapt books into movies they don't make exact copies of the book. If I want the exact copy then I can read the original and honestly I prefer From Hell the movie over From Hell the graphic novel.

I agree with some of you here. On the one hand, you want a movie based on a book or comic to be as faithful to its source. On the other hand, anyone who is familiar with the process will know that sometimes the source doesn't translate well into another medium.
In this case, the changes seem justified. It felt weird and out of place having that monstrous squid thing in the comic. It would feel even more out of place to have it in a movie. Im sure all us hardcore fans would love for it to be the same but as long as the movie lives up to the spirit and message of the comic, hey, its cool. Personally, from what I've seen it looks like its on the right track. I'm crossing my fingers.

You really thought the movie of From Hell was better!?! A movie that was the same as all the other jack the ripper movies, in other words its a movie about a bloke going round killing women & is as Moore himself said "a pornography of violence" precisely the thing he was trying to avoid in From Hell!!

I'm not an Alan Moore fanboy. The only things that I even liked that he did were Watchmen and The Killing Joke. The rest I can't even get through without being bored, so yes I prefer the movie.
