U.S. Muslims outraged after imams kicked off plane ["They were treated like terrorist

Re: U.S. Muslims outraged after imams kicked off plane ["They were treated like terro

You have to look at the geo-politics of it all. The "hot spots" right now are Muslim lands (Somalia, Iraq, Palestine)-thus creating more sparks of tension, and more people with a grude. Lose a son to an f-16, and you may be pissed. Its rationalism.

And plz do not link religion with race politics. The ME (Israel-Palestine) is a racial problem, shown by the fact that Xtian Arabs support the PLO, Hezbollah et al. That's a race issue , not religious.

Frankly, when Jay Leno can say "I went to my dr, he told me to turn to Mecca and cough"-with huge audience response, it indicates that many Americans have Muslim doctors...thus if they are willing to entrust there lives to Muslims, it makes little sense to dislike them.

Luckily I am familiar with the US to a fair degree, and know that on average the people are fair and distinguish between mainstream Islam and the fringe elements.

Note what Jefferson wrote:

"Where the preamble declares, that coercion is a departure from the plan of the holy author of our religion, an amendment was proposed by inserting Jesus Christ, so that it would read A departure from the plan of Jesus Christ, the holy author of our religion; the insertion was rejected by the great majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of its protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mohammedan..."

(Thomas Jefferson in his Autobiography, 1821; from Thomas Jefferson: Writings, New York: Library of America, 1984, p. 40)

When the founding fathers recognize the American Muslim community as integral and existing from the origins of the nation, its fair for them to expect equality. No?

This is my last post on this matter. I am not a religious man, but know that espousing ignorance is unjust and you are in the process lambasting a community that has deep roots in the USA.

I don't really know what you're getting at with your post here, or if it's directed at me. Nobody said that people should go out and dislike them, I'm just saying that precautions need to be taken in certian instances for the safety of others.

In that we are in agreement.

I just want peace.

There was an America Muslim community back then? That's news to me. I think that is totally wrong.

Re: U.S. Muslims outraged after imams kicked off plane ["They were treated like terro

The facts are the facts. Jefferson should know, he is a bedrock upon which the American nation grew. That's from his autobiography. The full reference is given....check it out. :)

There has always been Muslim's in America. A few at times, but always there. Many slaves from West Africa were Muslims (some sources say 1/3), and they gradually lost there adherence owing to the enforced lifestyles.

I'm not here to argue, I am of Muslim heritage and despite being totally nonpractising, I do wish to plead to people not to judge us all by a few loons. Do not tarnish all of us, whether we pray daily or merely have Muslim names. We're normal folk.

That is all.

Peace.

Re: U.S. Muslims outraged after imams kicked off plane ["They were treated like terro

From what I saw in the news, now the airline and the pilots are being sued. What a load of crock.

I was at the Houston airport one time before this happened and the PA kept repeating over and over about how any jokes about security can result in arrest. So if I run around the terminal shouting "Admiral Ackbar"... I mean, "Allah, Ackbar", or shouting just about anything, that means I'll be under arrest, right? So how did those dumbasses expect the rest of the people around them to react?

Re: U.S. Muslims outraged after imams kicked off plane ["They were treated like terro

on a generally unrelated note, is it just me or does everyone always think about the plane crashing whenever they fly?

I thought I was just morbid, but every time I read anything about someone flying they always say the same thing.
