totally addicted to porn - HOW DO I STOP!!

hey guys,

I work from home, and have a huge problem... I have been addicted to watching porn for the last 3-4yrs, I have tried many times to stop.... but it is just an addiction which I cannot get rid of.

As you know it can be really distracting, especially when you work from home, and probably wastes 2hrs of my day.... but the worst part is that everytime i watch porn i wank and blow, and after i blow i get really tired and can't do any work for the rest of the day.... (it just kills my entire day)

I have tried many ways to stop my addiction, (i have even promised myself that the next time i watch porn i am going to throw $200 in the bin... i did this but the habit still didn't go away)....

This has been my daily routine for the past 4yrs
8:30am - get up and start work
11am (approx) - my brain starts thinking about pornstars and i start watching porn....
1pm - by this time i have watched many small video clips of porn and have blown my load (as soon as i have blown, i start to feel really drained and extremelly tired and cant do anything for the rest of the day....)

If anybody could please help me overcome this problem i would be extremelly gratefull.... it is destroying my life.... but the worst thing is i am always feeling really tired and fustrated....:(

cheers.

I've suggested this before, but go on a holiday far far far away from any porn, get time to hang with friends/ family/ strangers and realise you don't need porn every day...... or jus get rid of your net connection

I hear ya.

I am in a similar situation. It's a hard addiction to fight, and as with many addictions, it seems the closer you get to climbing out of the well, the farther your fall is back down to the bottom (when you do it again, it tends to be in an aggressive way). There's a lot of ideas on how to do this, filters, self-punishment systems like you mentioned, hypnosis, there's also a web program i've seen where it locks your website traffic history and at the end of each day emails the list to your chosen friend, and you are supposed to chose a friend that you trust but don't want to see you looking at porn everyday.

Another theory I don't feel completely safe recommending because I am not a doctor, but I read this in maxim some years ago, was to masturbate non-stop, as hard as you can and as frequently as you can for 2-3 days, maybe a little longer. You won't get much work done, so maybe pick a weekend. The idea behind this is that it will become uncomfortable to force yourself to jack off, eventually you'll chafe, probably break the skin. But you have to keep forcing yourself to do it even when it hurts. If you do this for a number of days in a row, you'll begin to associate the act of masturbating with pain instead of pleasure, and will lose interest in doing it. I am not sure how much pain you'd have to endure to erase years of pleasure from an activity, and i am not sure how long the effects would last... but i guess it's an idea. anyways good luck friend, let us know how you do.

P.S - that could be another way to do it, update everyone here at freeones with a daily journal on how you are doing in your fight against your addiction. or perhaps you would be best to find a non-porn site to visit daily to update people with your daily journey.

and look away from my avatar.

^ You seem to be describing depression, and your addiction is just one way you cope with it. I suggest a psychiatrist. Medication and counseling will help you - seriously.

what the fuck you lookin at?
Or you could wait till you get more work done then start looking at porn and bust a nut toward the end of your work day. Your hooked, it's not that bad if you try and keep it under control!

Gaawwd dammit! I gotta start reading the replies first. First serious post I make all day and it may be a troll.

Real or fake, either way you should see a psychiatrist ASAP.

i got it... do your work and make porno your reward everyday. Put things in perspective

if you can't do that then go to a bar or club or get help from a physicaitrists, ;) however the fuck you spell it. j/k

p.s. i'd say your biggest problem is you're home too much, you work at the house and from what i understand your only freetime is spent on porn. Go to the store or something.. :2 cents:

first off let me just go ahead and point out that if you simply got a job as a "guy who gets paid to jerk off", this whole thing woulda worked itself out already. so before you go spendin all that $$ on shrink bills, take some time to find out more information about getting a job as "guy who gets paid to jerk off"** and you could turn this whole thing around for yourself.

now assuming that the job scenario up there doesn't work so well, you should prob just call your dad and tell him "thanks for not playing football with me when i was a kid, you jerk".

**see: male porn star, some type of a horse farmer?, meter maid,...uh female porn star i guess?..., people who studied telecom in college, etc.

get a girlfriend....seriously

I've suggested this before, but go on a holiday far far far away from any porn, get time to hang with friends/ family/ strangers and realise you don't need porn every day...... or jus get rid of your net connection

all very valid replies, :p but i had a bit of an addiction at one stage and i just decided to go cold turkey and just stop.

Repeat this mantra:

Computer = work, People = fun

Force yourself (it will be difficult) to get up from the computer, and go out somewhere for at least 2 hours each day. Set a schedule and be strict about sticking to it - example: work from 8-11, lunch from 11-12, and finish up work from 12-whenever. If the temptation gets to be too much, go outside and take a short walk - anything to remove yourself from the situation.

My boyfriend used to have a porn addiction problem, and he says to remember you're jerking off to IMAGES, not real people. The sooner you start substituting real people for your gratification instead of images, the better.

And hey, if you can keep an erection for 2 hours, you're dating material. There are women out there that like sex as much as you, and half the fun is trying to find them. You're better off having sex with the first attractive woman you meet, than jerking off for the rest of your life.

y dont u get married i think u will get rid of porn forever i was a porn addicted too i got married so now i dont watch porn that much

put the cock down :rubbel: NOOOOOOOO PUT IT DOWN :rubbel: :rubbel:

either start drinking or do something else with that wanking energy
go for a walk, go surprise your girlfriend or wife at work and :lovecoupl

pace yourself, just once a day then every other day untill u dont feel like wanking off again......... might be never but since u think its a problem, it couldnt hurt.

It's a good question, and there are many answers.

The fact is that looking at porn is instant gratification, particularly pictures. If I watch a movie, I can't keep going for more than half an hour without joining in, and then I'm done, and can get on with doing something else.

But with pictures, you can just keep looking, and looking, and looking. And guess what, because it keeps being instant gratification, your incentive system tells you to keep going on looking, and looking, because actually not much else rewards you so completely and so quickly.

Trouble is that this can, as you say, take hours until eventually you do get tired. Notice, you get tired before you get bored! Indeed the level of tiredness is acute for the simple reason that you have been so full of adrenalin while looking at those pictures, and when you stop, there is a long way to fall.

This is not addiction. Addiction is when you get nasty side-effects when you stop, and seriously, being very tired is not the same as the nasty side-effects I'm talking of. Addictive habits also often lead to something which can cause behavioural changes, and also damage to your health. Porn does not have any of these effects.

The replies above are all of them valid. I've had binge weekends, when I'm on my own, watched porn all day, and had fun until I'm free of the bug for several days, if not a week. So binging does lead to a reduced short-term desire for this form of satisfaction.

The other method, abstention, really does work too. But as soon as you restart, you are back to square one.

The best solution is to realise that this is a form of pleasure, just like kids watching television, and you need to be mature enough to ration out how much time you spend on it. A word of advice on this. Don't set a timelimit that is too easy to exceed. Organise to have a meeting, a conference call, something which will get you off that computer. Self-imposed deadlines, when you aren't feeling very motivated to stop, won't work.

Good luck, but also don't take the addiction analogy too far. You in the same boat as millions of men, and none of us are dying of it.

Well first I'd better preface this by saying I'm nowhere near an expert, so take my advice for what it's worth.

The first thing I'd say to do is relax. Take a step back for a minute and make a conscious effort to just relax. When you feel the urge to feed the addiction, revert back to this process. I think the way things are right now, you've sort of geared yourself up to expect to give in, and then be mad at yourself afterwords. I think that frustration may have exacerbated your problem. And like sputnikgirl said, setting a schedule is probably a good idea, as is going for a walk when the urge sets in. I would just stress that you need to step back every once in a while and relax, and then refocus on what you are doing, and see if it has any effect.
