WASHINGTON — Secretary of State Mike Pompeo offered economic help Friday to impoverished North Korea if it gives up its nuclear weapons, as the two countries prepare for an historic summit between President Donald Trump and leader Kim Jong Un.

A day after returning from a trip to Pyongyang, Pompeo said he had "good" and "substantive" conversations with Kim during his visit, in which he secured the release of three Americans who had been detained in North Korea. In a joint news conference with South Korea's top diplomat, he offered a glimpse of what U.S.-North Korean relations could look like if they succeed in reaching a nuclear accord.

"If North Korea takes bold action to quickly denuclearize, the United States is prepared to work with North Korea to achieve prosperity on the par with our South Korean friends," Pompeo said.

Yes, give up your nukes and economic prosperity and goodwill will be lavished upon you by America. Ask Japan how that worked out for them post WWII.

I actually think Joint U.S.- South Korean military exercises are a bad idea before a summit.
They should be postponed as a good faith gesture pending the outcome of the meeting. They can always be resumed if things don’t go well.

So less than 24 hours to go until these meetings take place. Just think where we were mere months ago when parents were lowering their children into storm drains in Hawaii because they were told a nuclear warhead was inbound from North Korea.

I'm sure most people including the patriotic Americans in the democrat #Resist movement hope that these talks result in North Korea giving up it's nuclear weapons program and peace on the Korean peninsula and what that would mean for the people in that region, our country and the world.
