The Walking Dead on AMC

Yeah, the finale was a letdown. Notice we're not all on here talking about it. I didn't think Andrea would die going in...I figured a newer main character would get it, like Hershel or someone. There's not a lot of the original camp crew left anymore. Even though she was annoying, I was kinda hoping they wouldn't kill her off.

I've been hating on Andrea for awhile. I'm glad she's gone. She always got on my nerves worse than Shane ever did. There was nothing more to do with her character anyway. As for Merle, I'm really going to miss his redneck ass. They wrote this simple (minded) character to be pretty complex - and that takes real writing talent. They even gave him a sympathetic exit - better than Andrea's, if you think about it. I'm assuming they've added some new writers since a couple of seasons ago. Because they now seem to do a MUCH better job of writing most of the characters so that they aren't so one dimensional or stereotypical, like they were in in the first season and the first half of the second. And the writers know how to put the hook in the audience too. Like when everyone assumed that Carl was just a little psycho killer for smoking that kid (who IMO was right on the verge of making a lunge - and Carl was right to shoot him), it turns out that he really had thought it through. Like he told Papa Rick, you have to be prepared to kill anyone who poses a threat or else you might be killed by that person later. And it's funny that the Governor said the same thing to Milton (before killing him). I used to not like Creepy Carl. But I'm digging the kid now.

P.S. I think Woodbury would be a cool place to live. Cause as Andrea's feet showed, even during the zombie apocalypse, you can still get a mani-pedi in Woodbury (that was such a dumb scene!). There's a new show-runner coming on board next season. I sure hope they don't screw this show up now that they've gotten it to be one of the best dramatic series on TV!

I tried...just couldn't get into it.

I was a big fan of Jericho...thought there may be some of that in TWD, but I didn't find it.

I'm actually kind of jealous of the folks that are so into it.

I understand where you're coming from. I almost stopped watching it a couple of times. But it's grown SO much over the past couple of seasons. The show does a better job with storylines and character development than about any show other than Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones right now (IMO).

I'm not familiar with Jericho. When was that on? What channel?

I liked the show for the 1st 2 series, but now it is just boring. Too slow, they need to pick up the pace a bit. It's just turning into a soap with a few zombies thrown in.

yeah but the comics are mostly about how people and society change after zombies take over, not really about going around killing zombies. i know what you mean being slow tho, they definitely drag stuff out

It is a great show. I guess you just have to be into it to understand it. the show was never just about killing zombies, it was about how the characters evolve in a world that changed. How humanity turned against each other and how that effects them. I'm sorry but it has to be at a slow pace or you lose the main purpose of the show.

You know, with regard to Carl...

In season 2, when Carl went to the creek alone, and found that zombie stuck in the mud....and was fucking with him, and then almost got attacked...I know everyone was screaming "You stupic kid, get the hall back to the house!"

But that was an excellent set up for much much later....because if Carl had killed that zombie, it wouldn't have attacked Dale. Carl is learning some hard lessons, and the way they're tying the episodes together is well done.

The biggest question I have about the finale is how in the world did Carl know that the Governor was the one who shot and killed Merle?

When the episodes are good in the Walking Dead it really works, but when the episodes are lackluster it makes me wonder why I'm into the show in the first place. I really like the comic book and the show is a great counterpart to it.

I was expecting a lot more action (which I'm sure most of us where) and a season finale like 1 or 2, where they tie up some things and then have a shocking ending where you want to tune in when it returns. I think this ending was the there will be a next season and we want the governor and many cast members to survive, so lets do the shitty ending. The only thing I was happy about the episode was that my favs: Rick, Glenn, Maggie, Tyreese, and Daryl did not die.

*Spoiler alert, continue reading at your own risk*

Anyone else notice that the governor had a direct link to everyone that died in the episode? He killed Milton who later bit Andrea and then she shot herself. Then he mowed 95% of his people down after they wouldn't return to attack the prison. What a twisted man, his character is starting to be like that from the comic book. It just sux they screwed up Andrea so badly, I feel her character arc could have been a lot better.

Really, I'll never understand the thinking that it's just fine to show people getting their heads blown off, something that hopefully none of us will ever have to actually witness in real life, but God forbid some tits or ass come out....something every last one of us will see in our life with out any lasting trauma :)How much better would this show be with some naked Zombies huh? :)

Concur. Having seen some pretty horrible things that one person can do to another I'll take the boobies and perfect shapely smooth girl butt!

Goodbye Andrea, now I kinda feel bad for wishing you had been killed off earlier. Brilliant though, having that conversation with a dying Milton while not at the same time trying to retrieve the pliers. Way to multi-task.

Carl is turning into a little governor himself.

6 months til october. Oh well, there's Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad.

I never liked the Andrea character. Her (dead) sister was the more likeable of the two, IMO. Too bad they didn't keep her. At some point I became convinced that Andrea's sole purpose was to get on my nerves. When they tried to turn her into a pistol totting, rootin', tootin', shootin' Yosemite Sam(antha), I'd had enough. Then the idiot shot Daryl... and actually shot over the heads of the group that was going out to investigate! She needed her ass beaten for that. This last season, her only purpose was just to see who was going to fuck her first: the Governor or Michonne. I think that's why Michonne poked him in the eye. I mean, if I was in the zombie apocalypse and I found a half-cute girl out in the middle of the woods, I nursed her back to health and took care of her and before we could consumate our relationship, some slick talking Hitler wannabe comes along, gives her some of his good Scotch and bones her in his bunker hide-away... I'm by gawd gonna poke somebody in the eye too!!!

This show really has no problems killing off major characters though. I kind of like that aspect of it. And next season, I think I'm going to be split between Team Tyresse and Team Carl. I'm not sure who else noticed it, but I remember Beth (Hershel's jailbait daughter played by an almost 30 year old actress :D) giving Daddy Rick a big kiss on the cheek and a come hither look when they came back from raiding Woodbury. Rick gave her a funny look but nobody else seemed to notice. And since I think Carl has Beth lined up as his woman... what did I say? That's right! Creepy Carl might just have to poke Rick in the eye if he ships with Beth next season. Rumors have it that both Tyreese and Beth are going to be more major characters next season, so this should be good - whatever happens.
