The Walking Dead on AMC

Yeah, she does have the baby, but no, it's not a zombie baby, but um...other things....happen...

Oooolalalalala!!! Don't tell me!!!

Even though the story lines aren't the same...would hate to ruin a good Rosemary's Baby moment!!! :p

5 reasons the walking dead has to get better

The writers finally understand what they did wrong: They made sure to clearly tease the prison at the end of the finale, just so the fans wouldn't go fleeing off aimlessly into the woods like a bunch of little Halfwit Carls.

Now if they had a tv show based off of horror novelist Brian Keene's The Rising and City of the Dead books wow that would be killer. Imagine zombies that are possesed by beings from the same dimensions of Cthullu whose sole purpose is to consume and infect and eventually destroy every aspect of life on the planet.

After some effort, last night I finally got a chance to see the one episode that I missed this season: "Nebraska". It's the one where Herschel falls off the wagon and they find him getting drunk in the bar.

Does anyone else agree that was the best episode of the season, if not the series thus far?

I thought the writing, acting and direction were all top shelf... damn near on par with Breaking Bad or even The Wire. I don't mean this in an insulting way at all for those who like comics. But that episode didn't have the comic book feel that some/most of the episodes seem to have. I think it gave a great glimpse of who Rick, Hershel, Shane and Daryl are/were as characters. Hopefully it gets nominated for an Emmy based on that great episode.

Just saw the first episode of the new season. You wanted gore, you got gore. The one where Rick pulls off the zombified guard's gas mask off was :pukey: but too cool!

You wanted zombies, you got shit loads of zombies.

And Carl is actually useful.

So's T-Dog.

And I think Carl almost got some, if it hadn't been for Old Cockblockin' Hershel. Well, it was his daugther so understandable.

Too bad about............ and I thought all red shirts were dead, didn't think that one was a red shirt.

And Michone really kicks ass in the one scene she was in, no wonder she's a fan favorite.

Very strong start to the season, (though I would think a prison would actually have a good chance at being quarantined from zombies). I actually thought [victim's name] was going to last a little while longer and there might be a chance. I loved how Rick didn't even hesitate to amputate the leg to try and stop it from spreading.

And yes, the scene where Rick rips off the zombie-guards face mask was incredibly gross but awesome. I didn't think they could top the grossness of last season's bloated zombie in the well but they might have

Dexter is on at the same time as the first airing, so I had to catch the re-showing. Awesome episode, action packed, and a very good episode. I can tell this season is gonna be awesome already.

To readers of the comics, did anyone else think the black prisoner all the way to the left, watching what happened to Hershel, that he looked like Tyreese? That was my first thought when they showed him.

@Earlier poster in the thread asking about Lori, she has the baby but yes, other things happen.

I found it rather predictable...but quite enjoyable nonetheless. Carl does seem a lot more useful when he is not talking.
Next week should be quite cool. Looks like a long-awaited character is about to make his first appearance...

Yup, I was expecting the guy to show up in this episode, but not even Michonne did. Either way, it was a really good episode. It seems that the guy just lost his leg but won't turn into a zombie.

Also, who was watching Carol (name?) practicing a C-section on the zombie? :dunno:

I am guessing it was Merle watching Carol.
Though it is not following the comic frame by frame, the show is following the comic somewhat faithfully. It took Rick a lot longer to kill the prisoners in the comic, but I have a feeling they are saving more time for The Governor, who has the potential to be one of the more fascinating, terrifying characters on television.
There is one thing which has bothered me, though. Our heroes are covered in blood - yet Maggie and Glenn kissed while they were both covered in blood. Darryl had what I believe was a used arrow between his teeth. If they were to know how incredibly infectious the blood of the dead is, and how quickly it will lead to their own change, wouldn't they be a lot more careful? Or am I just reading too much into this.
Still, quite a fun show. This season has got off to a quick start.

I have never read the comic, so I guess I don't understand how this disease works. But didn't they say that they were all infected last season? Well, if that's true then how would getting bitten make them any more infected? And like Stan, I don't get the kissing and blood spatter thing either. So Glenn checks Maggie for scratches, but yeah, they're swapping spit while covered in zombie blood. And why the hell is she wearing a tank top in the middle of a fight with zombies anyway??? I know, I know... to show off her boobs. But I mean, in a practical, real world sense. No biggie. Just throws you off when you're trying to figure things out.

Also, I really like this "new" Rick. Lincoln is a decent actor, but it's hard enough for an Englishman to play a Georgia good ol' boy cop without making him a giant pussy on top of it. Psycho Killer/Dirt Harry Rick works better, IMO. And they're finally allowing Glenn to ease out of his stereotypical submissive, geek, nerd boy, Asian male role. It really feels like they have some new writers this season.

I read that this show is about the highest rated dramatic series on all of TV (cable and network). AMC did a great job with Breaking bad and Hell on Wheels this season and they're off to a great start with this show too.

The bites and scratches from the dead elevate the infection. I guess when we are living, the infection is there, but it is not "active". However, when bitten or scratched by the dead, the infection does in fact become active and spreads through the body a lot quicker, causing death and eventually reanimation.

Yep, Stan Scratch is right. However in the comic book, they never go to the CDC so Dr. Jenner never tells Rick about everyone being infected, he still learns through Shane that everyone is infected though. Shane in the comic is almost exact to the TV show in trying to kill Rick because of him coming back into the group and messing things up with Lori. Although the affair only lasted one night, where in the TV show, it seemed to last a little bit longer. Shane lured Rick into the woods and was going to try to kill him, but Carl stumbled upon this and shot Shane in the neck causing him to bleed out and die. They bury him and leave. In the comic book a characters daughter and her boyfriend decided to commit suicide, and then they become zombies without ever being bit. Tyreese ends up killing his daughter and her boyfriend when they are zombies. Rick then inspects them to see if they have any bites, which they don't. He goes off to find Shane and dig up his body just in case Shane turned into a zombie. When Rick digs him up, Shane is in fact a zombie, and then Rick realizes everyone is infected.

I'm stoked to see The Governor next week. If acted correctly written and directed correctly, the Governor can be one of the top villians in all of TV.

Seeing that C-section practice zombie got me thinking, are the extras that play zombies just a bunch of local meth heads?

If so the production crew is probably saving a lot of $$ in make up

...and in teaching them how to act like zombies

A different kind of concept tonight. Introducing a new character (the Governor) while having no scenes with Rick and the group of survivors.

Anyone else think all the fish tanks with the heads in it was a little bizzare, plus some of the zombie heads were blinking and their eyes were moving as well. I thought it was a good episode, regardless of it having Rick in it or not. It just shows how evil of a dude that the Governor is, and he is a villian among villians. Like I said before, if acted, written, and directed correctly, he could be one of the top villians in all of TV for a very long time. In the graphic novel he causes the deaths of many of the survivors after brutal rapes of one of the female cast members and what in turn is done to him after those rapes, caused the chain reaction of things to go down. I won't post spoilers but the graphic novel and TV show have steared somewhat of the same course, but not that much. The closest storyline wise is the stuff with Shane. Only Carl killed Shane when he was human and Rick killed him when he was a zombie which is how it happened in the graphic novel. It was switched for the TV show.

The guy playing The Governor did an excellent job, and the lady playing Michonne did an excellent job. His seeming friendliness, layered over his very dark side, was done quite well, and the heads at the end was a nice little twist. I wonder if his niece will be in the show? That is another very twisted part of his persona.
And I like how Michonne has been handled - dark, quiet, observant, threatening, yet very deliberate.

I really like where this show has gone since early last season. Just like Hell on Wheels, it's come on strong after getting its legs under it. When it started getting sort of cartoonish at certain points, I was just about ready to stop watching it last year. I'm glad I hung in there. It's not predictable and I think the writing has gotten a LOT better since last season.

BTW, I really miss ol' Dale. But I enjoyed the introduction of this new character, "the Governor." He's the ultimate dictator, isn't he?
