This shit is getting ridiculous. I truly don't understand the policy on trolls around here. I think I need a break from FreeOnes, except for a few threads. It's really sad that these boards are like this, I don't get the point of allowing people who are obvious trolls and make nothing but asinine comments to be allowed to keep doing so. This place used to be fun, a place to shoot the shit and whatnot and now it's a sea of stupid garbage.

I feel inspired to go to the gym for some reason.

We went from one extreme to the other. Used to be that bans were doled out like candy, now it takes shit so blatant that by the time an offending poster reaches the threshold it's pretty much pointless. Currently mods have the power to move and merge threads and approve attachments, not exactly a deterrent to trolls. I doubt if they should ever tighten the rules back up, though georges alluded to the possibility on the Political board a few days ago, I suspect more likely he was trolling the member the post was directed at. A better ignore feature might eliminate some of the current frustration.

I've been told to stop reporting people, as well, and for the most part have stopped, it's pointless. Nothing that goes on here surprises me anymore, it's been pointed out enough times that the forum boards are an insignificant part of FreeOnes and that they really can't be bothered by most of what's posted here, which is fucking awesome, and nothing around here can be blamed on trolls, it's always the fault of everyone else, strangest dichotomy I've seen, troll and they love you, complain and you're shit.

I do find it troubling that trolls and such are driving OCSMs away. A major part of the fun of FreeOnes is to interact with these ladies. If current policy allows trolling to be as excessive as is evidenced in this thread, I'm guessing the number of active OCSMs will go even lower than it currently is.

However, I certainly don't have the perfect solution, either. I do encourage people to ignore the trolls, and I try to do the same, though I can't always resist.

As I've said before when the rules were too tight and again when they loosened, it's Yin and Yang.
It will keep bouncing from one extreme to the other. Right now we're on the "fuck it, let 'em troll" extreme, but with a year of this postit will be tight as fuck again.
As for georges, I don't know (or frankly care, since I've proven myself more than adept enough at surviving the play with the ban-hammer game) if he was alluding to something in the works, but I doubt it.
I wouldn't take anything he says as gospel either; he's got a severe disconnect with reality.

We have stated several times in the past, that if you think someone is worthy of being banned from the board, DO NOT REPLY to them, report them to the mods/admin and we will deal with it.

Once you have replied to them and lowered yourself to their level there´s nothing we can do since banning the troll would include banning you.
