In what may be a sign of things to come for the US, the Philippines just elected Rodrigo "The Punisher " Duterte as president, a guy that makes Trump look like a pussy.
The election results weren't official, but early results were so lopsided that the remaining candidates withdrew before the official announcement, so it's basically over.
If you watched "Last week tonight" you know the story, but if you haven't, here are some gems:

"I will be strict. I will be a dictator, no doubt it. But only against forces of evil -- criminality, drugs and corruption in government"
"If you are doing an illegal activity in my city, if you are a criminal or part of a syndicate that preys on the innocent people of the city, for as long as I am the mayor, you are a legitimate target of assassination."
He's not shitting. He's the Mayor of Davao, which has roving Death Squads enforcing justice. He said he would kill thousands of criminals without trial. He even admitted to killing several people himself, although he can't remember the exact number.

He's married twice but now single, he says he has several girlfriends. At a mass wedding, he offered himself as a "gift" to the wives only, because he's "not queer". That's right, he offered to fuck all the newlywed wives at their wedding ceremony.

When an Australian missionary was gang-raped (and murdered) in his city's prison, he said that "As mayor, he should have been first in line"

The more you research this guy, the more Trump looks like a wuss. It's not all doom and gloom though. Remember that Jiha-douche group that beheaded that Canadian? If there's a president that's willing to go balls out against terrorists, it's this guy. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

He is just a lot more open and hands-on in the worst way, but basically, he is very much what Trump is like.

My mother-in-law voted for him. I had read a tiny bit about him before. I respectfully said to her, "I hope it works out for you." I'd like to get my brother-in-law's opinion of the guy. As far as Trump, since I've gotten married, I've met a lot of my wife's Filipino family and friends and a good number of them are Trump supporters.

I would very much like to hear what actual Filipinos living there think. I get that those in Davao are under his spell, but that's just one city. It's hard to believe that an entire country overwhelmingly supports this guy.

But like Trump, he is undeniably entertaining.
Commenting on the release of a notorious drug lord in Manila: "Here in Davao, you can’t go out alive. You can go out, but inside a coffin. Is that what you call extra-judicial killing? Then I will just bring a drug lord to a judge and kill him there, that will no longer be extra-judicial".

Even before this there's increasing tension between the Philippines and China with maritime rights. I have no doubt this guy is more than willing to start the next war in Asia. Or maybe he'll be all talk like Jong-Un; we'll see.

I watched Al Jazeera's youtube piece on this guy.

He's no joke. It's probably a bad sign if you can't recall offhand how many people you've personally killed.

Marcos redux.

Philippines' Duterte, in China, announces 'separation' from US
[AFP]
October 20, 2016

Beijing (AFP) - Philippines' President Rodrigo Duterte declared his "separation" from longstanding ally the United States in Beijing on Thursday, as he rebalances his country's diplomacy towards China.

Duterte is in China for a four-day trip seen as confirming his tilt away from Washington and towards Beijing's sphere of influence -- and its deep pockets.

"I announce my separation from the United States," he said to applause at a meeting in the Chinese capital.

"America does not control our lives. Enough bullshit," he added in a rambling speech that flipped between languages.

"How can you be the most powerful industrial country when you owe China and you are not paying it?"

His comments came after he met his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People on Tiananmen Square, with the two men pledging to enhance trust and friendship, while playing down a maritime dispute.

Xi called the two countries "neighbours across the sea" with "no reason for hostility or confrontation", the official Xinhua news agency said.

He also says he wants to ally with Putin and Russia and says "there will be just 3 of us against the world - China, Russia and the Philippines."

Yeah, I'm sure that's how those two world powers would look at it too :1orglaugh.

Marcos redux.

More like Castro redux. Enjoy your communist overlords you stupid filipinos.

Like the old saying goes, "Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it."

Ask them to fix the typhoon damage.

Exactly.

Duterte isn't going to last. First, he's old, but also, I don't see the Philippine military on board with this. Look for a coup.

A recent Pew Research study found that the people of the Philippines have the most favorable view of the United States and Americans in general, more so than Americans themselves. They don't want a "separation" from us. There's still a strong bond there.

Duterte is a 70+ year-old monkey throwing around his feces. The Philippines is of no strategic value to the U.S. or China. The U.S. has the Pacific Rim covered, regardless.

This turd world revolutionary is going to die gurgling on his own blood, whether by natural causes or he's taken out. Don't make us Manuel Noriega your ass.

CNN and BBC.......2 very trusted names in news reporting.
Most of that is most likely not true. More propaganda from the US Ministry of Propaganda.

The people of the Phillipines want the USA to have no part in their countries politics.
At this point no part in their country at all. And there is a history there.
The Phillipino people have taken to the streets in protest of USA troops and US involvement in their country.
They are not welcome.

How would you like it if some foreign country with a history of destroying other countries started putting military in your country?
Started pillaging your land. Maybe even your very property.
Would you bow down or would you fight?
Would you defend your country or lay down?

The US GOV is only there to allow private businesses to rape the Phillipines. Just like theyve done all over the world.

It's filipino. And the U.S. troops that are in the Philippines are special operations forces supporting the Philippine military in their fight against Abu Sayaff in the southern provinces.

We don't have a garrison of bases like we did at Clark and Subic.

As for your other points, I'm not even going to bother. It's pointless with you.

Duterte declares martial law after Mindanao attack
http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2017/...tial-law-mindanao-attack-170523171932275.html

He just declared martial law on the southern half of the country in a bid to fight isis terrorists.

This is going to be good. You have islamic terrorists with no ethics going against a president who brags about personally killing bad guys.
I feel for the civilians that are going to be caught in the crossfire, but the shit just got real in mindanao.
