Even though Rosberg's hopes & dreams died as soon as the lights went out, I do give him a lot of credit for the way that he approached Lewis after the race. That showed class.
Fantastic season! I really enjoyed it overall. Course, if it had been my guy's car that broke down, I'd be cursing & swearing like a sailor right now. But still, great return to form by Williams. Fantastic season by Daniel "Mr. Smiley" Ricciardo. And my prediction is that both McLaren and Ferrari will not be so overjoyed with their two, new prima donna drivers next year... but we'll see. And just based on what I've seen of their motorsports program here in North America over the past 7 or 8 years, I'm not sure that the Honda Racing of 2015 bears much resemblance to the one from the late 80's through the early 2000's. But again, I guess we'll see.
What about everybody else here? Did you guys & gals enjoy the season overall? What did you like? What did you dislike?
Caterham have been given dispensation to compete in 2015 with this year’s car should a buyer be found for the team.
The key decision was taken during last week’s Formula One Commission meeting in Geneva, and allows administration-hit Caterham an opportunity to be on the grid next year.
For a potential purchaser it now means there is no pressure to build a car for 2015, particularly as time is of the essence, and all the inherent costs that would apply.
With the decision to be ratified by this week’s meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in Doha, it would allow a new owner to at least be in F1 with a base on which to build for 2016.
Well, the good news since the end of the season is that double points has been scrapped for this year (hooray!) and Button has retained his seat after all. Quite why it took them so long to decide/announce it I don't know.
Korea has been taken off the calendar. No real surprise is it... not the greatest of circuits IMO and the "fans" (or lack of) simply didn't turn up for the race weekends.
Honda, as a new entry this year have been refused permission to develop their engines - whereas all the other engine suppliers can. Anyone understand that one? Hardly seems fair.
I obviously know that's what they were mulling over, it's just that I didn't see it as being quite such a difficult decision to make. I'd rather go with someone with a proven track record than someone who might potentially turn out to be a good driver - especially when he didn't really do anything of note last season after the first race.About Button vs Magnussen, it was mostly a question of whether McLaren wanted to go with a steady performer who costs them quite a lot in wages or go with the younger driver who might continue to improve and is a lot cheaper.
Got a link to the Honda being refused permission to develop? Not heard anything about that before.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/117386 said:Honda has succeeded in its bid to convince the FIA to allow it some engine development during the 2015 Formula 1 season.
Following a meeting between the Japanese car manufacturer and F1 race director Charlie Whiting last Monday, the FIA agreed to consider tweaking the engine rules.
It came after Honda was left upset that rivals Mercedes, Ferrari and Renault would be allowed to introduce upgrades throughout 2015 while it had to stick with the power unit it has to homologate on February 28.
Honda felt that treating it in such a way was unfair and left it facing the prospect of losing ground to its rivals over the course of the campaign.
Following the meeting, the FIA has reconsidered its position and agreed that Honda can have some room to introduce developments, so it is treated as equally as possible to the current car makers.
