Re: The Official NCAA College Football Thread!

Man....where's the chatter about tonight? There was a lot more interest last year when my beloved 'horns whipped USC. Must be because everyone knows that OSU will prevail....they are just a better team. I do expect Florida to cover the 7.5 points. I'll go with the over (47).

Final score....OSU 30, Florida 24

JMHO of course....

nah. i think its because usc vs texas was a more intriguing matchup than osu vs florida. i also expect a blowout. so do others as ive heard. ohio state may go wire to wire number one. thats an accomplishment. but, maybe not. the football gods are funny little fuckers.

Re: The Official NCAA College Football Thread!

Seems you got your wish...;)

Once again, Notre Dame and their coach Charlie Weis prove they are totally overrated...

I read this in a recap of the game.

"The school of Touchdown Jesus and Knute Rockne now has a more ignominious distinction: nine straight bowl losses, breaking a tie with South Carolina and West Virginia for the most in NCAA history."

Yes, I did and it was great to see Notre Dame get their ass kicked up and down the field.

Hopefully tonight the Florida Gators will win the BCS Championship.

I say THE Ohio State 27, Florida 20. :2 cents:

Re: The Official NCAA College Football Thread!

What happened to Ohio State today? :dunno: I didn't watch the game, but did the time off hurt them. I thought Florida was a weak team compared to its position in the polls due to some of their wins against weaker competition were barely pulled them off. I wonder if they were better than they looked or if this is just a case of the "Any Given Sunday" effect.

Re: The Official NCAA College Football Thread!

that boise st. game was simply rediculous, this game not so much. the past 2 years the underdog has come from the shadows and won the BCS bowl. im picking the underdog next year for sure

that sure was a crazy game. best ive seen for years. that includes usc vs texas. but, who is the underdog next year? thats the beauty of college football. thats something that pro cant do. :)

Re: The Official NCAA College Football Thread!

Boise State = Real BCS paper champions

Down with the BCS and all bowl games! We want a playoff already!

hey dude. bsu beat the sooners, who if not for the refs would have been in the title game instead of florida. dont knock boise state. :nono: :D

I'm not. I'm knocking the BCS!

Division I NCAA college football doesn't officially award a national championship to ANY school. Its all done on paper by outside voters...thus I refer to it as a paper championship. No offense to the schools involved, but the system itself is a sham. :2 cents:

(Sorry to be negative about that, just my opinion.)

any self respecting football fan hates the bcs. and, after this year, there is no choice but to go to a playoff. the only unbeaten was... i cant remember. they arent in the big 6 conferences. hmm.... oh yeah! boise state. i think this is the beginning of the end of the Big Cockamamie System. finally. lets hope kungfudude. :)

Re: The Official NCAA College Football Thread!

Wow...that game tonight was just embarrassing...

Still...2 championship games in 5 years, and one title...not so bad. Better than Michigan or Notre Dame. ;)

:glugglug:

Yes, this is what I pray for every year. Somehow, some way, that there will be a split championship (just like the USC-LSU debacle) , even with the supposed be all and end all BCS title game. I don't want great teams or cinderellas to be diminished by this system any more. Its depressing. The sport is too great to deserve this fate.

most definitely. if boise state were to win the title in a tourney then i will back it.

but you know lsu deserved the title outright over usc that year. :)

Re: The Official NCAA College Football Thread!

A lot of people in the system want a playoff format, even more as time goes on. It seems most fans want it. The problem with that is money. The bowl games bring in a lot of money for certain people, everything from the conferences and colleges to the television networks and they don't want to let it go or spit it with other people. Like everything else it ends up corrupting everything in this world. Sometimes you just have to do what’s right for the integrity of the sport and not the bottom line. Until there is enough embarrassments with the current system or fans have enough and stop watching and going to the games it's not going to change. They just don't have what's best for college football at heart.

You know what is funny, is that every time people bring up the money aspect, the major conferences always deny that its about money. They'll say anything to change the subject on it. Even something so ludicrous. The powers that be are so freakin stubborn about changing it. Its nuts man.

bcs schools get 15-16 million dollars. thats the hold up to playoff games. thats a lot of money to turn down.:(

It's not just them although they are the biggest part of the problem. The NCAA doesn't run the bowl games themselves I don't think. The people that run them and invite teams to play in them get a lot of money also. That is why Notre Dame got in a major bowl this year even though they probably didn't deserve it. They have a huge fan base and draw in a large television audience. That was more important than fielding two competitive teams. Then you have the television networks. I heard somewhere that FOX got a little upset at some of its broadcasters when they said they would like to see a playoff on live television. They just paid a lot of money for the broadcasting rights to some of the BCS games recently.
