I liked the optional signature for every post.

I don't like that when I go to my subscription/watch page, there's nothing to tell me which have new posts, let alone an option to jump right to the newest post. There is one, but that's only after you access the thread and as of right now, I can't tell how well that works. I go to the last page of one thread that only has one genuine new post, but when I go to the previous page, that option isn't there despite there being at least one new post since I last visited. Doesn't help that all the links read and unread are indistinguishable, so I can't really gauge where I left off that way, either.

The new board is LIVE! (duh, you can already see that!)

I know some of you guys hate change and it'll take some getting used to, but overall, I think it's a huge improvement overall. The old board was so full of hacks it took almost a full week to just do a security upgrade. Not great! Anyways, a few things you should know...

1. Your profile is linked to the NEW FreeOnes (https://www.freeones.xxx). This means if you change your nickname, email or password it will NOT sync back over to myFreeOnes. You will only be able to use the new information on the board and www.freeones.xxx.

2. If you're brand new and register to FreeOnes (either here or www.freeones.xxx) your account will ONLY be for this board and the new site. There will be no link back to the old FreeOnes or myFreeOnes.

3. Reputation. This no longer exists. Now we have "reaction scores" and "trophies". Reactions are set up. I don't have anything beyond the basic set up for trophies... yet. If you have suggestions for good trophies, let me know. ;-)

4. Subscriptions. Find them here https://board.freeones.com/watched/threads

5. Smilies. YES! (most) of the old ones will be added to the board. Just be patient with me, that's years worth that were added over time. Rome wasn't built in a day.

6. Search not fully working. We're rebuilding the thread index this morning. It'll take awhile, but this will hopefully fix it.

7. Tags. Tags did port over, trying to figure out why they're not showing (possibly part of #6... show up after the rebuild)

I think that's about it! If you're experiencing problems or bugs let me know and we'll work through them!

Am I missing the previous thread/next thread option?

There's arrows at the top and bottom of the page with pagination, but xenforo does it differently than vbulletin. I'm thinking I'm going to have to either find a plugin so you guys can have your filters (like sorting a thread with loads of posts newest to oldest) or we'll have to customize a bit.

Not sure if this is the correct section,
On the log in it asks you for the email address and password
I thought I used my regular email address but on logging into the main my free ones account it shows an email address from 12 years ago or so...
Some people may be trying to log in but forgotten email addresses or passwords, but on the new log in page it doesn't give you the option to just use your username, nor does it give an option of .... I forgot my password
Even if you have a saved username and password on your device it doesn't work.

Yes, there's a reason... the site currently can only be logged into with email and password so to make the connection, we had to force email. We've currently turned this off until we can get the username functionality on the site side implemented. This DOES mean your board and site accounts are NOT connected and you'll have to log in separately over there.

This also means you currently can't access the part of your profile where you can change your email or password. To do that you'll have to contact myself, Regina, Adam or write webmaster@freeones.com.

For a while looked like editing posts was working after 10 minutes, that would have been a big positive change.

Users with 5+ posts can edit for a lot longer. People with 1-4 can still only edit for 10 minutes.

If this is abused, it will be taken away.

maybe its just me, but why do the links at the top appear and disappear then reappear again?

There's a very technical reason (has to do with Kubernetes and Pods for those reading this that know about this stuff). We're going to to redo this part of the board set up this afternoon and hopefully the menu will shelter in place like the rest of us should be currently. ;-)

The tags imported, I can see them in the admin, and I'm currently rebuilding all the threads to help the search problem. I'm hoping by rebuilding threads this will also make the tags show.

Login with your normal username/password.

Xenforo's way of doing this is "interesting". I think we're probably going to have to customize it or find a plugin to gain better usability.

Yay! So far most things seem lightyears better than vbulletin. Some things make me wonder about the decision process... like the user who I quoted below. Not being able to search a thread (as admin, I liked that as well).

Thing I always liked, was how you could personalize your own profile, hope that is coming back. Like a full background pic of your own, it is all too shocking white for me, feels to unpersonal. I liked that feature very much......

And the mainpage is too flashy for me, but to each their own I guess.

Unfortunately, no way to go from one piece of software to a completely different sofware subtly.

I'm not sure about customizing profiles. Might be a plugin for that.

You should be able to login with your username as of about 1.5 hours ago.

When this forum software would obey regular visited URLs, I would know which links I have already visited.
Almost all my subscriptions havent hand an update after March 21st and I'm sure I did see new posts last week. + 1 case a definitely know a recent post is missing.

Don't forget we turned the old board to read only on the 22nd so that makes sense that you don't have any updates. You should start seeing updates as people interact on your watched threads.

Don't mention it. Well actually.. do mention the thread I made if you see someone (who's not against installing browser addons) asking for the same sorts of customizations.

Also, as critical and angry as I tend to be, there's one really large-scale thing about this change I really need to give props to Freeones team for getting absolutely right from the start: old thread links don't just 404 but get redirected to the right thread on the new board. That is really great. Otherwise about a million links would have just broken.
