√ Where is the ice cream man ? I haven't seen one in years. Gas prices not withstanding, It must not be a cost effective business these days.
Also, I suppose that since we've been †conditioned to believe that kids are "bad for the environment", the ice cream man can't find customers. :dunno:
That's too bad, I always enjoyed the timely refreshments.

Favourite has to be the classic 99.

We have icecream vans here in the UK. I hear his little tune playing around where I live all the time, but not bought one off him in ages.

I used to love looking at the menu with all of those bright colors ! :bowdown:

I forgot to add - Describe what the treat was if possible. :o

I liked those "Missiles" ! They were sort of elongated, round, frozen fruit flavored juice on a stick. They were swirled in colour red orange & yellow !

If they were out of missiles, it would have to be a "fudgesicle" Yum !

99's were great but I liked the Nugget Wafers best.I also liked the Ice poles and jubillees.
But I rarely see the ice cream man going around my estate now.

i was an ice cream man in the summer of 87 on the southern coast of new jersey. what a summer,
my cousin had about 20 trucks going thaty year.
park on the beach all day, drive around for a few hours at night.
made good money, bought a 73 cougar XR7 with a 351 clevland.
you would be surprised at the amount of bad blood among drivers back then.

my favorites were the chipwich,bomb pop(aka superstar). toasted almond,surprise pop, creamy burger and watermelon italian ice.
One reason they are not around so much is the local council of the municipalities increased the price of the vending licenses to ridiculous amounts in order to help their buddies in local businesses who own ice cream parlors.

My parents would never let me get anything from the ice cream man when he came around - they were afraid of the ice cream being tampered with I think, kinda like how you're not supposed to eat unwrapped candy at Halloween. But they would let me get a shaved ice from the greasy carnies that came to our town during the summer months, so go figure.

We have Hemglass in Sweden.
They gave an incredibly annoying tune.
Not at all as much fun as it was thirty years ago.

No! They have them in Mexico, although they're different. There they have iceboxes on wheels that they push around, and instead of playing the annoying children's melodies they just have bells on their carts. Also, most of their products are homemade popsicles.

There's about 4 ice cream trucks that drive in front of my house every day. One of them drives like a bat out of hell. One of them is Hindu that plays "Pop! Goes the Weasel". Another plays a dirge-like "Fur Elise" which is rather disturbing. The last guy plays "Turkey in the Straw."
