^Yeah, you're right about Hitchcock.
I think with NOTLD, it was only remade once, in 1990 by Tom Savini - there *was* a "colorized" version of it released without Romero's permission (as his film was in the public domain, or something) but it was exactly the same as the black & white NOTLD, only 1000 x more lurid-looking.
The only other film I could think of that has a NOTLD connection is Flesh Eater, which is both directed by and stars the 'main zombie' from the 1968 Night Of The Living Dead, Bill Hinzmann. It's pretty terrible, mind. :1orglaugh
