Yes, the historical references he made are factual, but the issues we are discussing here are totally different from what he was using as illustrations of "political statements" being made as long ago as the 1880s. Those issues were directly related to the field of play....whether or not players of a different color could take the field and compete with white players. The protest the Rams' players made had to do with an off-the-field issue and, although I totally understand their sentiment and purpose, the forum they used was totally inappropriate in my opinion. By comparison, I would not be allowed to lobby for a particular social or political cause while I am on duty where I work and neither should these players. I would surmise that this type of display will not be repeated and I will be seriously disappointed if it is. On the other hand, what they do on their own time is their business and they should be able to express their feelings on the matter without restriction. Let a black player catch, you have to let him use the drinking fountain. Let a black player throw a banjo string to home plate, that could be a white player that's called out. I have never been asked for my Identity Card in 30 years whether by the Gendarmerie Nationale, Police Nationale and even by State Troopers or NYPD . Yes, some cops will look your face and if they don't like it, they will ask you questions about who you really are and try to investigate. The problem is that some neighborhoods are sources of drug deals, murders, prostitution rings, rackets and drive by shootings. Look in France just at the Champs Elysees of how shitty it has become, I am not even talking about Nanterre (Pablo suburb), Marseille, Grigny, Créteil, Bobigny, Mantes la Jolie, Vaux en Velin, Lille, St Denis, Cachan, Livry Gargan, La Courneuve and Paris with La Goutte d'Or, Chatelet and Barbes which are scumbags nests it is not comparable to the Bronx, Queens, Harlem, the Watts in LA, Detroit, Flint, Fairfax and Chicago, but it becomes more and more close to.
