if you can make it i guess someone somewhere can un-make it

"As predicted, the Blu-ray copy protection on discs did not thwart the persistance of those wanting to make copies. Instead, the copy protection has only served to make left difficult for the true and loyal users of the Blu-ray format."

As long as people don't have disposable income, expect dvd/cd copying to continue. I rarely buy dvds outside of a pawn shop....I usually wait and ask for them as a birthday or Xmas present. I own as many VHS tapes as dvds, much less any Blu-ray discs or the equipment to play them. When you're struggling to pay for rent, medical bills, food, etc. dvds/cds aren't the top priority. I don't think people should be totally deprived of entertainment due to their economic status.

As for the argument about artists getting screwed out of $$, if they were artists in the true sense of the word, it wouldn't matter how much money was made. I don't buy the "poor musician" argument. Tour & merch revenue has always been the real money-maker for musicians - not actual album sales. As for actors, look no further than the tabloids to see how hard-up they are for money. Sorry to divert slightly on the topic, but it makes me pissed to watch actors/musicians bitching and moaning about $$ and infringement, when they make 20x more than most of the people who buy their albums or movie tickets, dvds, etc.
