T.O. Terrell Owens rumor

Here's an article I found. If anyone has the pics, please post...

T.O. TAKES ON THE DIRTY
Posted by Mike Florio on April 24, 2008, 10:14 a.m.
One of the inexplicably biggest non-mainstream media stories in the days leading up to the NFL draft has been whether or not Terrell Owens appears in the background of a photo appearing on a hardcore porn site.

The story has been mentioned by several sites (we noted it in a One-Liner on Tuesday), and most recently A.J. Daulerio of Deadspin pointed out that the photo in question has been cropped to remove the apparent image of Owens.

But now things are getting interesting. Or just plain f–king weird.

Owens has hired a Florida lawyer to send a nasty letter to TheDirty.com, demanding that the increasingly notorious gossip site “remove the photographs and references from your website, state to your public that these photographs linking Mr. Owens to Porn were not done with his consent, and that Mr. Owens categorically rejects the reference.”

The full text of the letter is right here.

Frankly, our initial reaction was that the letter must have been written by a non-lawyer who was trying to write a letter that appeared to have been written by a lawyer. The fact, for example, that the letter closes by requesting “confirmation within five days of your receipt of this letter” seems bizarre, given that five days in matters relating to the Internet is like five weeks in non-Internet time. The lawyer should be requesting an immediate response, and should be outlining specific steps that will be taken if there is no prompt compliance.

Better still, the lawyer should have simply not written the letter. Because he now has taken an issue that was at most a fading Internet curiosity and threatened to turn it into an issue that ultimately gets picked up by the Associated Press.

By the way, we’ve confirmed that it really is a legitimate letter and that Owens, through the lawyer who sent it, is pursuing the matter.

Our popcorn, as always, is ready.

Can you post the link? I'd like to see the non-lawyerly lawyerly letter that it mentions.

There is the photo in question.

A big deal over nothing. As long as they're not using TO's name and image for marketing and advertising purposes, then TO and his attorneys should waste their time elsewhere and have TO learn to stop hanging out on the public streets in South Beach if he doesn't want to be photographed.

Hmmm. I think the dude driving th Jeep is Matt Leinart?;)

Is it really a stretch to go from a lifestyle of hanging out at strip clubs to "being in the know" with porn shoots?:dunno:

As long as TO isn't breaking the law...what do I care what he does with his time?

Whoever said that the internet and "the blogs" would be great for journalism...hmm. I think it's time to shoot that person.

After all T.O. has done it's not like something like this is going to do anything more to tarnish his public image. :1orglaugh

lol... I really thought there was more to this. Not that it matters, but if porn is legal, then who really cares what athletes are involved.

What we're seeing is the walls between "Athletes," "Politicians" and "***********" have been torn down. The personal conduct of athletes is no longer "off the record." It is now fairgame to the usual pump and dump gossip mongering...

An academic ought to come out with a thesis intertwining the selling of Porn and Pro Sports in this country...I bet there are so many overlaps and "simularities" between the two "worlds" that they have become fused.

Take this construction:
Kim Kardashion --> Porn tape--> Reggie Bush's girl = Soon-to-be-released Reggie Bush/Kim Kardashian porn tape

Or this
Paris Hilton--> Porn tape--> dating Matt Leinart--->Major pool/porn parties at Leinart's = Soon-to-be-released Matt Leinart line or *********-porn--"Matt's World"...?

It's all coming down the pipelines....

This is kind of what I was thinking. This guy doesn't make any policy decisions, or do anything more than play a GAME. He makes millions of dollars. Who cares if the guy hangs around porn shoots?

Has the guy ever claimed to be some clean living Christian conservative? No, he's a glory-seeking, egomaniacal millionaire who runs fast, and can catch a ball.

WOW.

H

Roger Godell cares, because he sees stuff like this, rightly so, as ruining the image and reputation of the NFL.

Be honest, are you really going to say to your son or ********, "I want you to be a porn star when you grow up." Are you honestly going to say to your ********, "When you start doing porn, be sure to do at least 3 dirty-ass-to-mouth scenes and always take the jizz on your face and in your mouth and always swallow."

What does that have to do with the topic at hand?

You can't possibly be that stupid.

Seriously.

Perhaps you're just trying and succeeding at being a braying jackass. Not something the vast majority of people would be proud of, but hey, that's the label you have to deal with, not me.

It runs down like this:

Roger Goddell is the current commissioner of the NFL. Since taking office he has punished several players who quite frankly have acted like braying jackasses in various and sundry public places, like Adam "PacMan" Jones. Godell has punished said players because he and other league officials feel that said players are tarnishing the players and therefore the leagues image with their braying jackassery, and as the league tries mighty hard to maintain a relatively clean and wholesome image, actions like those taken by Jones and Terrell Owens are in direct contradiction not only to the leagues purported image, but are also in direct ********* of the code of personal conduct that each and every player agrees to when they sign a contract to play for a team in the NFL.

Owens was not only hanging around the set of a porn shoot, he was apparently actively involved in the shoot which is a ********* of the conduct code and thus falls under the braying jackass clause/lifestyle which you and he have in common. Difference between Owens and you is that he makes upwards of $5,000,000 a year and you make little more then minimum wage working the fryolater.

Actually, he does claim to be Christian. Listen to him in any interview and at some point he'll talk about God. And like was said already, it matters because the NFL says it matters. Goodell is very concerned with the image of the NFL. This is the same guy who caused a controversy on Monday Night Football for appearing with a woman from Desperate Housewives while she was in just a towel. The NFL is very concerned with a "****** image." And depending upon his actual involvement in this, he could be punished.

I never read anything that stated TO “actively” took part in the shoot. Where did you get that information from? In the pic I saw, it looks like he was just walking down the street where the shoot happened to be taking place and he was coincidentally snapped in a few frames.

And I don’t know why you feel the need to try and insult me :dunno:… Not a good way to earn respect on the forum as a newcomer by going around insulting veteran members for no reason.

i doubt it anything will come out of this from the NFL

TO himself may do something, but thats it

it wont hurt the image of the NFL, as this is from a porn website, and people who view porn probably wont think any less of TO if he is in the picture....and they would be private pictures, and not hurt the public image of the NFL
