For being uncompetent and not receiptive to what parents told and that could lead to murderer's arrest sooner.
I certainly hope this is the right guy and the case can be closed, but I disagree with most of you about the parents. Lets not forget that in the murder of any person, immediate family members are always considered the first suspects by police and the first step in the investigation is to systematically eliminate them as suspects. John and Patsy Ramsy did virtually NOTHING to assist the police in eliminating them as suspects. They repeatedly refused interviews, taking lie detector tests, and providing handwriting samples. They agreed to media interviews, but not police interviews. When they finally agreed to be interviewed by police, they came up with their own list of questions they would be willing to answer.
Given this, is there a police agency anywhere that wouldn't focus their attention on them?? No. Perhaps if the Ramseys had completely cooperated from the start, they would have been eliminated as suspects within days and the investigation would have been focused on someone else.
Were there mistakes made by police during the investigation? Sure there were. Mishandling evidence and all sorts of information leaks to the media. It all compromised the investigation horribly. But the Ramseys chose their path and though I sympathize with them for the loss of their daughter, I don't feel any sympathy for the stress they endured from being considered suspects. They brought that on themselves. There is no reason not to cooperate with police if you're innocent of a crime, especially when it involves the murder of your child. It just seems to me they were more concerned about their public image than the life of their daughter or for justice to be carried out on her killer. :2 cents:
