Superman and Batman Movie Announced for 2015

This year the Comic-Con International award for Saving the Best For Last goes to Warner Bros., which at the end of its panel in Hall H brought out Zack Snyder to make a very big mic-drop announcement: That there would be a new Superman movie. With Batman.

“It’s official,” Snyder said, taking the stage. “We are going to make another Superman movie.”

Then he called up actor Harry Lennix to read a teaser statement that was recognizable to fans of DC Comics: “I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.” (For those that don’t know, that’s from The Dark Knight Returns.)

The movie will be titled Superman & Batman according to The Los Angeles Times; Snyder will direct the film, slated for 2015; and—according to The Hollywood Reporter—Henry Cavill will reprise the role of Clark Kent/Superman, but it’s unclear who will play Batman. Man of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer will pen the script. Sources also told the Reporter that the film will be part of the build up for a 2017 release for the Justice League movie.

Kick ass! I'll definitely go check it out!

Am I the only one that thinks Batman and Superman just don't work well together as a concept for for a long time now without some very contrived things they have to put into each situation they are together just to make it work? It's been one of DC's biggest problems over the years.

I never thought that this would actually happen, when I first saw a first hint at "I Am Legend" as an easter egg.
So DC/Warner actually want to build up their relationship first before they start with "Justice League". After all I think that this version of Batman will be drastically changed from what we know from Nolan

Well, it's certainly polarized my extended Twitter family. Reactions vary from :

Oh my god. So there's going to be a new Batman. It's time to dream big.

I've wanted missed periods to be pregnancies more than I've wanted this Snyder Superman/Batman crossover.

We've just had the bowel movement that was the finale to the Nolan Batman trilogy.

Do we really need a new under developed Batman character introduced just for this movie or are we getting an Avengers Assemble scenario and have Batman from the Justice League movie step into the role? I'll probably rent Superman out of curiousity but if I don't see it, I don't really care.

I enjoyed the fact all the Avengers were developed through their own movies and when they came together for the movie there was no clumsy time wasted on back story. How will that work with this new Batman? Can we expect another reboot to set him up for the part, or do we get a "This is Batman, now shut up and watch the movie" type script.

What I'm really wondering, considering this Justice League movie, is are there any reasonably well-known beautiful brunette Hollywood actresses that have the, ummm, "figure" to pull off Wonder Woman??

DC announces a lot of movies, puts out comparatively few. Supposedly this has been in the works before and shit canned. Justice League has been in development Hell forever now. Remember Wonder Woman? They even had Joss Whedon attached to that before he went off and did Avengers, and WW was shit canned too. Flash was in the works, that never got any traction. A bunch of other projects were in pre-production too.

I guess what I'm saying is... believe it after filming has started.

There was a lot of talk about Gina Carano after Haywire came out. Never saw that movie, but apparently she wasn't bad in it, and she supposedly rocked the action and fight sequences (which I guess isn't surprising since she's a legit MMA fighter).

Exactly. Plus the fact that David S. Goyer is keeping his job. Man of Steel was so poorly written.... WB execs must be pretty stupid.

Inner geek in me is fixing to come out....

Yeah, I agree. I'm more of a Marvel guy anyway. Batman is really the only DC character I like.

That said, yeah, how they're going to reconcile the two...I don't know. Superman has godlike powers, while Batman is a normal guy with lots of training and gadgets. They just don't mesh.

Even though I am a DC fanboy, I surprisingly have no excitement for this. It just seems rushed.

Also I didn't really like MoS. I didn't particularly like Henry Cavill's performance. To each their own, though.

But I know for sure there isn't going to be Bale or JGL, TDK series takes place in a realistic world and MoS takes place in a supernatural one. They will be casting a new Bruce/Batman.
