Summer Olympics 2008

I think that the Olympics sort of lost its zest when it was switched to the 2 year format. I prefer every 4 years. :2 cents:

Funny...I really liked when they switched to the alternating years. This way I can get an "Olympics Fix" every 2 years.

Yeah...I'm a total Olympics junkie!!!

I just got through watching the Olympics opening ceremony and it was awesome. It's the best opening ceremony that I've ever seen at the Olympics. Way to go China.

The opening ceremony was breathtakingly amazing. My favorite parts were the countdown with the hand drum lights, the great wall of china blocks with the flowers and also the lighting of the torch.

Everything was perfectly done. I am in utter awe.

That was the greatest opening ceremony ever. Nothing is ever going to come close to that, unless another Asian country gets to host in the future

Every year it gets topped. I'm sure London will top this...it's just technology advancing not to mention dollars being pumped into it.

Stringer Bell Rules

I heard somewhere the Chinese spent $300 million on the opening ceremony

They weren't lying about the smog. I'm was watching some things going on outdoors and it's clearly noticeable, and that's AFTER they spent weeks taking drastic measures to reduce it.

I also wonder about an opening ceremony that cost 300 million dollars to pull off. With a country where so many people live in poverty and live on the edge of starvation all the time doesn't it seem wasteful to blow that much money all on one night of an athletic event all to show off to the rest of the world.

Yeah, Dreamteam no 12 or so?
Michael Phelps is trying to break the record of Mark Spitz (7 gold medals), he is going for 8.

Tell me who is the Frenchman who claimed to crush Michael Phelps in the pool.

Michael broke another world record ! Way to go Team USA !

Yea, Thats hypocrisy to the Nth degree, I thought the same thing.

Call me crazy, but doesn't this photo from the opening ceremonies look a whole lot like China celebrating her current history of mass-producing cheap shit in sweatshops for WalMart? The Chinese "claim" this is actually a mass group of "drummers" but I know better...:1orglaugh

Let's go women's soccer! The Canadians actually have a shot at doing good!

I just watched them play China. Great game. Exciting. The Canadian Women's team is LOADED WITH HOTTIES....talented hotties. I really liked how that white Canadian uniform showed off their sports bras and thongs when they got sweaty! Yeehaw!!

The U.S. team finally got a win too. Women's Soccer is actually a great sport to watch. The action is great, the passing and defense work, top-notch. It's only missing the speed of the Men, but from a watchability factor, it's a great game!

I'll go with the Wal-Mart sweatshop employee theory as well.
