Suggest a punishment for the Austrian sicko who raped & imprisoned his own daughter

I'm talking about Josef Fritzl, of course, the guy discussed in this article:

Locked his own daughter in the basement, raped her repeatedly, kept her locked up down there for 24 years, made her have SEVEN of "his" kids, kept 3 of them locked down there with her....and it goes on and on and on....

Ok, so then, on to the fun stuff. What punishment would you suggest for this man (who HAS confessed to the crimes, I believe) ??

My own suggestion:

This man will have to spend the rest of his life in the dungeon he created, for starters.

No contact with others, except for occasional visits by psychologists who will visit to question and examine him. He SHOULD be studied to glean as much useful info as possible from him and what makes/made him tick.

The radio will be discarded.

The TV should be enclosed in a bulletproof plexiglass box and bolted securely to the wall, and it should play looped footage of his daughter (and possibly her kids) crying during THEIR therapy sessions. This should play 4 or 5 hours per day. I'm not into torturing this guy other than trying to make him grasp what harm he's perpetrated on others.

That's my initial idea at least.

I'm sure others will be "creative"...

Just throw him in jail for life.

What else can be realistically done short of the death penalty (which I am against in all cases)?

Although confining him to the cellar for some period of time where he left his daughter et al is not a bad idea.

Stuff the state will never allow. Just kill him, thats all thats really allowed. If possible, years of tortue would be appropriate but would it really affect him.

This sorta blew my away, and I'm actually not inclined to believe it:

"He faces up to 15 years in prison if he is ultimately convicted on rape charges, the most grave of his alleged offenses, unless prosecutors can charge him with "murder through failure to act" in connection with the death of the infant. That is punishable by up to 20 years in prison."

Just 15 years, plus MAYBE 20 more on that other negligent homicide charge? What about say....something like unlawful imprisonment, kidnapping, incest, maybe even some sort of fraud charges???

Surely Austria's got laws against kidnapping and (false) imprisonment, kidnapping, and - I hope! - incest. Right?

Yup, that it so. There are laws against anything you named. Although the death penalty was abolished, the penalties in Austria can still be quite rigid. Austria is (together with Germany) one of the few European countries where incest is still punishable. The minimum penalty for sleeping with your brother/sister is six months of prison. A father that has slept with his daughter can count on up to three years for every single act.

You're right about that, fresy. I fear that any punishment this man receives under "the law" will not be enough. Luckily I believe he is old enough that even if he gets something like 15 years, he will likely die in prison.
