Absolutely horrible. A baby failed by his parents and the system responsible for ensuring his well-being. This happens here in the US too, so this is not a knock on the UK system. These child protective agencies are rountinely underfunded, understaffed and probably even worse, staffed with uncaring, stupid or ineffectual people. What a fucking tragedy.
To punish those responsible: Life in prison for the guardians and those deemed responsible for the child. Harsh sentences for social workers and doctors who failed to properly respond.
Next up: Parents who don't seek basic medical treatment for their toddler daughter, rely on "faith healing" and the daughter dies!

Sometimes with things like this, I almost wonder if the religion assists people who have had children they didn't really want, as a way to take the "evil" out of murder. As in, "We WANTED her to get better and we prayed to God that she would get better, but unfortunately God had other plans for her!" There's no negligence, and God took her, so where's the crime?? Wouldn't abortion have been an obviously better thing to have happened here, long before this was a possibility???

As usual, I'm gonna say life in prison - perhaps with an audio recording playing once a day, very loudly, that says "I love you Mommy!" - in her very small cell.
