Storm Hits Midwest With Snow, Ice, Wind

om3ga

It's good to be the king...
"A blizzard warning was in effect until midnight for counties north of Indianapolis, and a foot or more of snow was possible across Indiana's midsection and parts of Illinois."

And the London Underground system fell apart after less than one inch of snow fell last month?????

Jezus wept....

I'm in the boonies here in the MidWest.

Everybody gets the day off, except us in the volunteer fire/paramedic department.

Headin' out to work!

Maybe a little global warming would be really nice right now.

Here we had about 4 inches of snow last night, today it warmed up and we had a lot of rain mixed with sleet. Tonight lows in the teens with about 4 more inches of snow. Tree limbs are cracking and breaking from the weight of the ice. I have one tree that has sagging limbs, that have froze to the electrical wires running to my house. Winds are expected to gust to 25mph tonight...I may not have power in the morning. I don't mind snow or cold - but ice really sucks!

I hate to hear you might have damage to wires or tree. Do you have a space heater or something like that if the power goes off? I guess a gas fireplace is a good idea at times like this. Bad idea to turn on the oven for heat.

Luckily most of the bad snowstorms have missed us here. The only problem is that it's been well below normal temperature wise for a while now.

My cats will keep me warm, or vice versa. I just hope that the pipes don't freeze up - I also have electric heat for the house as well

Texas is a great option - I just can't get there tonight and escape the ice!!!

Yes- it sure did snow around here. Nice thing for my neck of the woods, it's supposed to be in the 40s all week next week.

yay

Had a pretty fucked up night/day. Why do people insist on driving like lunatics just because they own 4x4/AWD? Do they think friction, visibility and physics somehow do not magically apply to them?

Volunteer department wanted me to stay on tonight as well but I'm already working the hospital (and they're short staffed).

Oh joy!

cheers,

what the fuck you lookin at?

:1orglaugh I always have a good laugh when I see one in a ditch! Fuckin idiots! 4 wheel drive may help some in the snow to accelerate, but it don't do shit for stopping distance. As for ice...ice is ice no matter what the fuck your drivin!!!
