When it comes to the "cool people" leaving because of the quality of the threads, I've noticed over the years that these are the "cool people" who don't start any cool threads of their own.

Back when I first signed in (when we wore pelts and killed our dinner by throwing pointy sticks at it), people were complaining about the threads. Aaaaand they're still complaining. All this complaining is simply saying, "Hey someone else should do something about this." :surprise:

I have noticed that over the past few months that the threads started haven't brought about much in the way of active discussions. Some have tried the best they could and others have just fallen short. Blame can be tossed out from member to member but that isn't going to solve anything.

There is quite a bit of intimidation here. That's not good for new people looking to join the community. Sure we should have a tough skin, but you have to admit, not everyone is willing to jump into such a fire.

One of the reasons why I rarely post anymore. This board has gone down on the quality discussions (what can I say, I enjoy a good debate and conversation) and gone up on the stupidity. And frankly, I encounter more than enough stupidity at my job, so when I come here to unwind, the last thing I wanna see is MORE stupidity. Then again, maybe thats my fault for going to an adult/porn forum after hours when I already work in porn.

Part of the problem is that certain members never take on board what others say. It just becomes childish "yes it does", "no it doesn't" with nothing to back up what is being said, and then breaks down further into name calling.
There is no point in a debate where the participants have made up their minds before starting, and starting threads that are deliberately inflammatory does not help either.
If there is a discussion to be had, I am happy to join in, and have done on numerous occasions.
I have had some out and rows with some members, but have tried, most of the time, to at least keep it civil - not always the easiest thing to achieve.

There is no denying that this board is having problems in some areas, but, having said that, it is up to the membership (especially the more established members) to rise above the BS.

The board is what WE make it.
